Heather Matarazzo has revealed that she faces the same work problem as another actor trying to keep SAG-AFTRA health coverage. The Princess Diaries star says she also needs more acting work to meet the union’s requirements. Matarazzo spoke out after Jack Haven shared an urgent plea for a new job. She said many other actors face the same situation.

Haven, known for Netflix’s Atypical, recently shared a video about their health insurance situation. “I’m in a bit of an emergency situation,” Haven said. They explained that they needed to earn $4,000 by the end of September to qualify for coverage starting in January. Haven urged those casting for SAG-AFTRA-covered productions to reach out to them.
Matarazzo responded to Haven’s post on Threads. “I am literally in the same boat right now,” she wrote. “Lots of my fellow actors are.” She added, “I remember a time when we didn’t have to earn a minimum to qualify for insurance.” Matarazzo also celebrated Haven after they received an offer that could help them qualify for 2027.
SAG-AFTRA requires members to meet certain requirements for health coverage. The 2026 minimum earnings requirement stands at $28,090, while the 2027 figure will rise to $28,933. Members can also qualify based on 108 eligible workdays. The plan uses covered earnings or eligible workdays during a four-quarter base period to determine eligibility.
Matarazzo starred as Lilly Moscovitz opposite Anne Hathaway in The Princess Diaries movies. She has also worked on Welcome to the Dollhouse, The Devil’s Advocate, Scream 3 and the TV show Wednesday on Netflix. She has recently worked on the short film Paper Tiger (2025). The situation shows why Matarazzo says many actors remain concerned about meeting the union’s health coverage requirements.
