Old Coastguard Station in Robin Hood’s Bay and another site in Ravenscar will cease operations next month. A number of jobs will be lost in the closures. Two National Trust visitor centres and cafes on the North Yorkshire coast will close on September 7, the charity has confirmed.
A statement on the National Trust website read: “After careful consideration, the National Trust has taken the difficult decision to close our cafés at Ravenscar and the Old Coastguard Station at Robin Hood’s Bay.
“Like many hospitality businesses, both cafés have faced significant operational and financial challenges in recent years.”
The statement continued: “We would like to thank the dedicated teams who have welcomed and served visitors at both cafés over many years.
“We know this news will be disappointing for visitors, local communities and colleagues.”
It continued: “Our wider work caring for the Yorkshire Coast will continue. Our rangers and volunteers will continue looking after walking routes and the landscapes in our care, restoring habitats, monitoring wildlife and protecting the coast’s important natural and historic sites.
“We remain committed to helping people enjoy the Yorkshire Coast and are exploring future opportunities for these buildings.”
