Cunard has revealed its planned itineraries for 2028 and 2029, with one sailing set to ‘make history’ from the UK. That’s because in May 2029, the luxury cruise line’s Queen Mary 2 cruise ship will make her 500th transatlantic voyage, with two embarkation points from the UK.
The iconic luxury liner will sail on a round trip from New York, calling at Liverpool and Southampton to take on passengers. Brits will have various options too; they can choose to sail the full roundtrip, or opt for the translantic crossing leg of the journey from the UK to New York.
It will also mark a milestone for the brand as it’s the first time since 2015 that one of Cunard’s transatlantic crossings will sail from Liverpool. Commenting on the newly announced itineraries, Cunard’s President Paul Ludlow said: “Queen Mary 2’s landmark 500th Transatlantic Crossing will be one of the most significant moments in Cunard’s modern history, reconnecting Liverpool with our iconic Transatlantic service.”
Bookings are already open via the Cunard website, with fares starting from £2,159pp based on two passengers sharing an Inside Stateroom. The cruise line is currently offering a 10% ‘Early Booking Saving’ on new reservations made before December 30, 2026 (applicable when booking a Cunard Early Saver Fare, or Cunard Fare). You can find out more on cunard.com.
Of course in the meantime there are plenty of cruise holidays that sail from the UK – and with itineraries in 2026 and 2027, there’s no need to wait if you want to have your next holiday locked in.
Fred. Olsen Cruises, for instance, offers a number of no-fly cruises from the UK in 2027, whether you’re thinking of ticking off the Aurora Borealis on a Northern Lights sailing, or looking for some sunshine in the likes of Spain and Italy before the peak summer heatwaves. Meanwhile Ambassador Cruise Line also offers a number of cruises from the UK to destinations packed with charming medieval towns, beautiful coastal walks and even the occasional themed cruise if you want to relive the 90s!
For those looking to take the kids, Disney Cruise Line’s Disney Wish will be sailing from the UK for the first time in summer 2027 (you can read our full review of the ship here), on a series of sun-drenched Mediterranean itineraries.
