Game Of Thrones: The Rise Of Dragons Officially Announced For October 2026

Game of Thrones is entering an exciting new era with the most recent slate of spin-off series and now the upcoming release of the first official feature film in 2029, Aegon’s Conquest. Aside from counting down the days for A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms season 2, there’s a lot to look forward to on the gaming front as well. War for Westeros puts the fate of the realm in players’ hands in 2027, letting them entirely “rewrite” the events of the original HBO show for themselves in a unique real-time strategy experience.

However, given the fact these new releases are still a way off, fans have a bit of a wait in store. Fortunately, there’s a major release on the way this month titled The Rise of Dragons that’s bound to fill the void and bring back a slate of new and returning iconic dragons from across the franchise. It’s just one part of a massive lineup this October that will keep fans busy ahead of the franchise’s return to television.

Game of Thrones: Conquest is putting dragons front and center this October with two separate runs of The Rise of Dragons, its recurring Dragon Power-Up event. The first takes place from October 12 through October 14, followed by a second from October 26 through October 28, giving players two opportunities to focus specifically on strengthening their dragons during the game’s ninth-anniversary month.

The event has previously been described as a “Dragon Training” or “Dragon Power” event, essentially serving as the dragon-focused counterpart to the game’s Hero, Building, Research, and other Power-Up events. For players who have been sitting on dragon resources, these events are an ideal time to put those to use. Conquest‘s official Dragon guide specifically points toward Rise of Dragons as a way of obtaining some of the higher-level food needed to raise dragons, while past versions of the event have rewarded valuable Valyrian Schematics used for crafting Dragon Gear.

For context, Dragons grow increasingly powerful as they level, eventually gaining access to new abilities and Dragon Talent Points that can be invested into different specialization trees, making these Power-Up windows super useful for anyone looking to improve one of the game’s most important combat assets.

The Rise of Dragons is just a small part of a massive month for Conquest players. The month’s Old Nan’s Tales arc introduces Viserion, Flame of the Night King, an undead version of Daenerys’ fallen dragon based on his resurrection by the Night King. Viserion’s Hero event arrives on October 26, the same day the month’s second Rise of Dragons begins. His skills focus largely on March Size and troop attack bonuses, while October also continues the Ever-Ready Warrior Dragon Gear Set with a new Peytral designed to improve Dragon Cavalry.

Dragons are also only one portion of what Warner Bros. Games has planned for Conquest‘s ninth birthday, however. One of the month’s biggest permanent additions arrives October 7 with two entirely new Research Trees: Military III and Dragon Combat. These are accompanied by temporary research discounts and speed boosts, while an Anniversary Login Event running through October 25 rewards players for completing Daily Quests with Glass Candle Shards, Weirwood Pawn Shards, and additional research materials. Players can also earn a Weirwood Tree Pawn, claim a new Weirwood-themed Banner Sigil, and access two new avatars.

The anniversary is rounded out by a huge batch of QoL improvements, including:

  • Better reinforcement sorting
  • Improved bookmark organization
  • Favorite recipes
  • Dragon Lore counter
  • Easier ways to filter craftable gear
  • And much more!

Add in October’s regular PvE, PvP, crafting, Arena, Festival of the Stranger, and other limited-time events, and the ninth anniversary is shaping up to be one of Conquest‘s busiest months in a while.

For Game of Thrones fans waiting on the franchise’s larger upcoming televised releases, The Rise of Dragons and other Conquest events in October should keep you distracted, at least for the time being.
