It’s Officially The End Of An Era For Taylor Sheridan & Sylvester Stallone’s Tulsa King

Tulsa King season 4 officially marks the end of Dwight Manfredi’s Oklahoma era before Sylvester Stallone’s hit crime series makes a major change in season 5. Following the highly anticipated premiere of Tulsa King season 4 on Friday, October 16, 2026, the Taylor Sheridan series is set for a significant location shift that even contradicts its name. This shift will begin a new era of the hit crime drama series that is expected to alter the entire landscape of the Sheridan series while also bringing Dwight back to his stomping grounds.

This primary location change from Tulsa to New York is not expected to affect Tulsa King season 4 all that much, as Dwight and his crew still have unfinished business following the chaotic showdown with the Dunmire clan throughout season 3. No matter where Dwight ends up, he’s guaranteed to bring his larger-than-life personality with him, determined to become a legitimate businessman after mastering a life of organized crime. Which characters will follow Dwight back in New York remains to be seen, but it certainly sparks a new era for Tulsa King moving forward.

Tulsa King season 4 started off with a shocking development that immediately changed the landscape of the ensemble cast, which has grown significantly since the series began. As the rest of Tulsa King season 4 plays out over the next few months, it will become clearer why Dwight is choosing to leave Tulsa and whether or not it is of his own accord. Since the series has historically always given Dwight the upper hand at the end of the day, Dwight’s decision to return to New York may be completely his own idea. If not, he may be drawn by other reasons, such as his daughter, who still lives there, or to face a loose end from his past.

Changing an entire series’ primary location after four seasons may seem like an ambitious move, especially after four seasons and its own title have firmly built the story around the specific setting. That said, Stallone is one of those superstar actors that audiences will follow anywhere, suggesting that Dwight’s evolved status as the king of Tulsa will help make his return to New York more impactful. The series began in New York and features several NY Mafia supporting characters throughout, so the location switch is not an entirely foreign concept. However, it is still a daring maneuver that not many shows could pull off. Tulsa King seems to be one of the few exceptions.

Tulsa King Season 5 Is Taking Dwight Back To His New York Mafia Roots

In retrospect, Tulsa King bringing Dwight back to his New York roots is a perfect full-circle moment for the series, as Dwight was originally sent to Tulsa as a form of exile, even after committing to a 25-year prison sentence for keeping his mouth shut. It would be shocking if Dwight’s return to New York didn’t have something to do with revenge against his own Mafia family in one way or another, and season 4 should make his new motivations crystal clear, hopefully setting up an exciting showdown that will give the series new life in season 5.

If Tulsa King season 4, episode 1, is any indication, it seems as though this latest season of Tulsa King is going to make the series leaner and focus more centrally on a handful of characters, which would eventually make Dwight’s transition back to New York more seamless. One of the common criticisms of Tulsa King through its middle seasons has been that it has spread itself too thin with its wide ensemble, so Tulsa King season 4 may be accounting for some of the extra weight. In any regard, Tulsa King is officially back and might just be better than ever, with early reviews all being positive. Because of all these exciting updates, a new era of Tulsa King has officially begun.
