Javier Bardem says his “Skyfall” villain wanted to take his attraction to James Bond beyond the battlefield
Recently, the Skyfall star appeared at the BFI London Film Festival on Sunday, where he discussed the film. According to Variety, Javier Bardem revealed that his villain wanted to take his attraction to James Bond beyond the battlefield.
Bardem said, “We went through the reading of it and [Mendes] was so open to what I was proposing to do with the sexuality of the character. Because I said, ‘Listen, all the villains have done everything to destroy the world, but what about something person? What about something like, besides destroying the world, he wants to have sex with Bond.’”
According to the Spanish actor, Mendes initially wanted to discuss the scene with the studio, which he praised for its bold decision. 57-year-old noted that the scene remains memorable because it puts Bond in an unfamiliar situation and brilliantly shows how he handles it.
During the interview, the actor also discussed several other topics, revealing how overwhelmed he felt during filming and how he forgot some scenes in Skyfall, including those featuring Judi Dench as M.
