Jessica Lange Slams ‘American Horror Story’ for Being ‘Too Cheap’

Jessica Lange has called out FX for failing to provide transportation for the American Horror Story cast during the show’s early seasons. The 77-year-old Oscar winner, who has returned for Season 13, called the network “too f**king cheap.”

Jessica Lange says American Horror Story failed to provide rides after overnight shoots

Speaking at PaleyFest 2026 in New York City, Lange reflected on filming the franchise’s third season in New Orleans, where she starred as Fiona Goode. As per The Hollywood Reporter, she said, “We would drive ourselves home at like 4 or 5 in the morning, park on some street in the French Quarter, and find our way home — because they were too f**king cheap!”

Lange helped make American Horror Story a television sensation during its first four seasons. She starred as Constance Langdon in Season 1, Sister Jude Martin in Season 2, and Elsa Mars in Season 4. The actress has now returned for Season 13, reprising her iconic roles. Her performances in the first and third seasons earned her Emmy Awards.

The King Kong actress previously said she would only agree to film more episodes of AHS if FX and creator Ryan Murphy met one specific condition. She discussed it during a September interview on Live With Kelly and Mark. She said, “First, he talked to me about playing [season 1’s] Constance, which I think was his favorite character that I did. But I said I’ll come back if I can do all four characters.”

Lange said she enjoyed filming the season because she liked all four characters. She added that returning to the roles had been a great experience. Season 13 also features Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters, Angela Bassett, Kathy Bates, Emma Roberts, Billie Lourd, Gabourey Sidibe, and Leslie Grossman.
