The person praised Kate for staying strong and said, “We love you!” Kate liked the message and directly thanked the user. She also responded to the ongoing criticism in the comments.
“I know rational logical [people] or anyone who has dealt with mental illness understands what’s going on here,” Kate wrote. She later added, “I had nothing to do with it, except for consent because it was medically necessary.” Kate also liked a comment stating that doctors, not other people, decide when someone needs admission to a psychiatric hospital. She has long denied accusations of wrongdoing, but she has not publicly addressed Collin’s new memoir.
Collin has said that Kate sent him to a psychiatric facility after he experienced behavioral issues. Jon later sought custody of Collin and also gained custody of Hannah, who continued to stay in touch with her mother. In his new book, In the Shadow of Eight: Surviving the Reality of My Childhood, Collin describes the pain he says he experienced growing up.
In an exclusive interview with Us Weekly, he said the hardest part was missing out on childhood experiences with his siblings. He recalled feeling that they understood him, adding, “They were the only people I felt understood me, but I had no life with them.” Collin hopes Kate will read his memoir, even though he doubts she will, and says he hopes it might help her understand his experience.
