Todd Chrisley admits he struggled when his daughter Savannah began dating Jason Galanis. The relationship brought a significant age gap and a difficult past that Todd had to consider. At first, he did not support her choice and faced a difficult decision. However, his feelings changed after he saw how Jason treated Savannah.
Todd explains why Savannah’s relationship with Jason Galanis was difficult to accept
Todd discussed the romance during the October 29 episode of Bunnie Xo’s Dumb Blonde podcast. He spoke about the 27-year age gap between 29-year-old Savannah and 56-year-old Jason. He also noted that Jason had served time in the same prison where Todd was held on bank fraud and tax evasion charges. Todd later received a presidential pardon, but he did not welcome the relationship at first.
“It was not something I embraced,” Todd said, explaining that he faced a choice between accepting Savannah’s decision and losing his daughter. He did not encourage her to date Jason, but he would never let a relationship come between them. “Nothing is ever coming between me and my daughter,” he said. Todd added that he loves Savannah “with my heart and soul,” even when he disagrees with her choices.
His view began to change after he watched Jason treat Savannah with respect. Todd said Jason approached him and asked for her hand in marriage. Todd reminded him that Savannah had loved before, and Jason replied that he wanted to make sure she never forgot how much he loved her. Although Todd was skeptical, that answer helped him accept the relationship.
Todd also said he knew Savannah would not choose someone younger than herself. He praised the couple’s bond and called their romance “one of the greatest love stories” he had witnessed. He added that even if the relationship ended, it had shown Savannah how a partner should treat her. For Todd, seeing his daughter feel loved and respected mattered more than his initial concerns.
