Meghan Markle Wasn’t Vetted Like Kate Middleton Over One Royal Fear — Source

Meghan Markle reportedly had a different experience from Kate Middleton when it came to the scrutiny involved in joining the British Royal Family. According to a royal insider, the Duchess of Sussex did not undergo the same background-check process as her sister-in-law before becoming part of the monarchy.

While such checks were reportedly a standard part of palace protocol, Meghan’s case was allegedly handled differently. A source has now shed light on the royal family’s thinking behind the decision, revealing a concern involving Prince Harry.

Meghan Markle skipped ‘background checks’ like Kate Middleton faced over fear of upsetting Prince Harry, per source

According to Rob Shuter’s report for Naughty But Nice, the Queen was particularly pleased about Harry finding love after his previous relationship struggles. A royal insider described the atmosphere within the palace at the time.

“The Queen was thrilled Harry had found someone he loved. She saw it as a fresh start, and nobody wanted to jeopardize that happiness,” the insider told Naughty But Nice. The source also highlighted the difference between the procedures reportedly followed for the two women, suggesting Meghan’s experience was an exception to the usual palace practice.

“There is a process. People are checked before they are given access to the Palace, and that isn’t unusual. Catherine went through the process. Meghan never had that same background check,” the source claimed. The insider further pointed to the palace’s relationship with Harry as a possible reason for the alleged departure from standard procedure.

“There was a real fear that asking too many questions or applying too much pressure would upset Harry. People were walking on eggshells,” the source said. The source believed that the palace’s approach may have overlooked an important aspect of Meghan’s transition into royal life.

“They confused making Harry happy with making sure Meghan was prepared for royal life. Those are two very different things.” The allegations suggest that the palace may have prioritized avoiding tensions with Harry over following its usual vetting procedures. However, these claims come from an unnamed source and have not been independently verified.
