In our streaming age, seeing insanely good shows and movies find a second life across different platforms is a common occurrence. Netflix, in particular, has become a major hub for this kind of revival, with shows like Lucifer, Suits, and Schitt’s Creek all starting out with more modest viewership numbers before later finding an even bigger audience on the platform.
Now, the most-watched show in MGM+ history has also gotten an impressive second life on Netflix, officially taking over the streamer with even more record-breaking numbers.
The hit sci-fi horror series From, which released on MGM+ in 2022, recently found a new home on Netflix when three of its four seasons arrived on Oct. 19
After nestling into its horror corner on the platform, From swiftly jumped to the top of Nielsen viewership charts, scoring a record 1.65 billion minutes of streaming in its first week. According to The Hollywood Reporter, this is the highest weekly total for any acquired (non-original) series in 2026.
Inside the plot that seems to be captivating Netflix viewers, From follows a mysterious town in the middle of America that traps any traveler who dares to detour through it. Adding more chaos to the mystery, not only can they not leave, but anyone who enters must also face the town’s monstrous minefield that emerges after sunset.
If you haven’t seen the show but enjoyed Alexander Ullom’s horror feature It Ends, From offers a similar trapped-in, road trip from hell premise. The show stars Harold Perrineau, Catalina Sandino Moreno, David Alpay, and Elizabeth Saunders, among other talents. It was officially renewed for a fifth and final season earlier this year, which is scheduled to release sometime in 2027.
Critics and audiences have previously praised From for its “berserk and brave” storytelling in addition to its combination of heart and gore. Bloody Disgusting says, “It’s easy to follow From down whatever dark path it wants to lead us,” and one audience member says, “This show never disappoints.” Some viewers do note that the show can start to feel a bit stretched out in some areas, though the commentary remains largely positive over its four-season lifespan, which certainly helps its success going on to Netflix.
Sitting behind From on Nielsen’s viewership charts, Netflix’s The Diplomat came in second place overall for the week of Oct. 19 (1,194 million minutes), followed by The Big Bang Theory on HBO Max (867 million minutes). Original series like The Terminal List and Nobody Wants This also made strong impressions on overall television streams:
