The upcoming animated sequel Trolls Band Together is honoring its title bringing one of the most iconic boy bands of all time back together. It’s been more than 15 years since NSYNC broke up and way more since they last released music together, with fans asking for a reunion for a really long time now. And it seems like their wish is finally coming true thanks to the Trolls franchise.
Inspired by the extremely popular dolls created by Thomas Dam, DreamWorks released the first Trolls film back in 2016 and became an instant hit. The movie stars Anna Kendrick and NSYNC member Justin Timberlake along many other big names, with some great musicians making especial appearances, like Ozzy Osbourne, Kelly Clarkson, Anderson Paak, and J Balvin.
The first film follows Poppy (Kendrick) and Branch (Timberlake) who go on an epic adventure to save their village from the Bergens, giant creature who eats trolls, with music playing an extremely important role within the plot. In the second movie, Poppy and Branch discover some other tribes of Trolls, each of them representing a different music genre. But the Queen of Rock wants her genre to be the only one that matters.
The third installment, titled Trolls Band Together, seems like the perfect moment to bring NSYNC on board, since the story will center on Branch trying to reunite his old family band. Entertainment Tonight broke the news that JC Chasez, Lance Bass, Joey Fatone and Chris Kirkpatrick will be joining Timberlake in the film. They’ll be releasing a song together for it, while also playing important roles. Most likely the rest of the members of Branch’s band.
NSYNC Have Had Some Memorable Roles in Movies & TV Shows
First formed in 1995, NSYNC joined some other memorable boy bands from the 90s such as the Backstreet Boys, West Life and FIVE, all of which were part of a golden era for the pop genre and these types of groups. The band broke up in 2007, and last released music together way back in 2002.
The band was so popular that they were not only the kings of stage, they appeared in many movies and tv shows along the years, including a recent reference to the band in Barbie. In 2001, they were part of Lionel C. Martin’s Long Shot!, a movie made to promote some other musical sensations too like O-Town and Britney Spears. The movie followed the story of two brothers, Alex and Jack, who are sent to New York by a powerful businessman to stop his ex-wife from sealing his company. However, Jack and Alex end up falling in love with the woman in question and her daughter, conspiring together against the businessman. That same year, both Lance Bass and Joey Fatone starred in Eric Bross’ romantic comedy On the Line.
On the small screen, they had some interesting participations too. NSYNC performed their legendary song Tearin Up My Heart in two of the most popular tv shows from the 90s, Sabrina the Teenage Witch and Clueless. They also appeared on Touched by Angel, Sesame Street and Saturday Night Live, but their most memorable appearance was in The Simpsons and the season 12 episode New Kids on the Blecch.
