Air travel can often feel like a test of patience, especially when you’re stuck between two strangers in a cramped, tight row.
But a seasoned flight attendant has revealed a simple trick that could help frequent flyers score a whole row to themselves, making the flight experience a lot more comfortable.
Jennie Weenie, a 41-year-old flight attendant and popular social media influencer, shared her insider tip with HuffPost UK.
With over 22 million followers across YouTube, TikTok, and Instagram, Weenie’s advice carries significant weight in the travel world.
Her hack is to book a seat in the back of the plane, provided you’re not in a rush to get off when the flight lands.
“There is a higher chance you will get a full row to yourself,” Weenie explained. “The back rows tend to have more empty seats, so if you’re okay with waiting a little longer to disembark, you could get lucky with extra space.”
This simple but effective strategy aims to solve a common problem, cramped conditions on long-haul flights, where passengers often battle for elbow room, legroom, and even basic comfort.
As anyone who’s been on a flight knows, being squished between two strangers can make a long trip feel even longer. And in the age of viral social media rants, complaints about rude or inconsiderate passengers, like “manspreaders” who invade your personal space, have only escalated.
For instance, one content creator, Erin, recently posted a TikTok video in which she ranted about being trapped between two men whose legs stretched out into her seat.
“Why would anyone EVER need that much room???,” she wrote in the caption. Her frustration is relatable for many who’ve found themselves in similar situations, especially on full flights.
But Weenie’s tip may be the answer to a more peaceful journey. By booking in the back, passengers might find themselves with a bit more breathing room, and perhaps even an entire row to themselves.
A little extra space at 30,000 feet can make a big difference, particularly for taller or larger travellers who tend to feel especially cramped in economy class.
In addition to the back-row hack, Weenie has teamed up with travel site Expedia for their 2025 Air Hack Report, offering data-driven strategies for smarter, less stressful travel planning.
Among the report’s highlights the best day to book a flight is Sunday. However, if you’re looking to travel domestically, Saturday is the top day for both booking and saving money, while Friday reigns supreme for international flights.
