A YouTuber put an all-inclusive holiday in Blackpool to the test, comparing it to a similar experience in Turkey – and was left gobsmacked by the price comparison.
With the school summer holidays now in full swing, families across the country are weighing up the most budget-friendly ways to make the most of the break.
For many households, this means opting for an all-inclusive getaway, with popular destinations such as Spain, Turkey and Greece topping the list.
One destination not typically associated with all-inclusive breaks is Blackpool, yet YouTube travel vlogger Ed Chapman headed to the beloved seaside resort to see how it stacks up against Turkey.
Ed recently embarked on what he dubbed ‘the world’s cheapest all-inclusive holiday’, checking in to the three-star Claremont Hotel on the North Shore promenade to put it to the test, reports Lancs Live.

However, when he crunched the numbers at the end of his stay, he was startled by the stark difference in cost.
Ed paid £130 for a single night in Blackpool. His five-night trip to Turkey, including flights and luggage, came to £510.
Had he remained at the Claremont for five nights, the total would have reached £650, making it cheaper to visit both Turkey and Blackpool combined.
He said: “So it’s cheaper to actually fly to Turkey and have an all-inclusive holiday than it is to fly there, which probably explains why you don’t see many families.
“It’s mainly older people, people with disabilities, where maybe travelling long distances is a bit trickier.

“So how does it compare to Turkey? Well to be honest, Turkey cheaper, and probably better. The food here however was better and it was cleaner (in Blackpool).”
While Ed was startled to discover that travelling to Turkey proved more economical than visiting Blackpool, he found himself pleasantly impressed by one particular element of his stay – the cuisine.
The vlogger particularly enjoyed the breakfast offerings, indulging in a full English each morning throughout his visit.
He said: “I’ve got to say, it’s good. It’s a decent enough full English. Is it perfect? No. But it’s a real solids, consistent full English.
“I think they have to work on the eggs, but aside from that, I’ve been pretty impressed.

“The stay has been pretty good. Not a huge variety of food, don’t get me wrong. The room wasn’t as big as the room in Turkey but the food quality was better, that was actually warm.”
On the negative side, the accommodation proved more compact than what he’d experienced during his Turkish getaway, and he believes it appeared more spacious in the photographs.
Ed did remark that he was “the youngest person there by at least 40 years,” quipping: “I stand out like a sore thumb. When I said it smelled like an old person’s home, I know why now.”
The Claremont Hotel maintains a 4.1 rating on Tripadvisor based on 2,200 reviews.
