Fans gobsmacked at quaint village used as filming location for The Crow Girl | UK | Travel

After an 18-month absence from our screens, The Crow Girl has finally made its return to television, leaving viewers eager to discover more ways to fully immerse themselves in the gripping storyline.

The drama centres on DCI Jeanette Kilburn and forensic psychologist Dr Sophia Craven, who unite when a deeply unsettling murder investigation gets underway. Their reunion ultimately uncovers long-hidden secrets and a deadly killer lurking within their community.

Bristol serves as the principal filming location for the series, taking audiences from the city’s Castle Park through to Queen Square and Welsh Back. However, production teams also ventured further afield, capturing a stunning seaside destination across several beach scenes.

While the series is adapted from Erik Axl Sund’s bestselling Swedish novels, it trades Stockholm for the West Country — specifically Brean in Somerset.

Production crews descended upon the village to film scenes for The Crow Girl, shooting on the picturesque Brean Beach and alongside the rugged headland of Brean Down.

Although Somerset boasts other well-known coastal destinations such as Weston-super-Mare, Brean offers a somewhat quieter, more tranquil setting. Despite remaining a village complete with caravan parks and its own amusement park, the beach truly steals the spotlight as a genuinely breathtaking spot well worth a visit should you find yourself in the area.

This seven-mile expanse of sand boasts one of the longest beaches in Europe, offering ample space for dog-walkers, sunbathers, paddlers and holidaymakers alike. Most striking of all, when viewed from the shoreline, is Brean Down, which dominates the horizon.

The 97-metre-high headland serves as a natural pier, jutting dramatically out into the sea. It is from this very location, where The Crow Girl was filmed, that visitors are treated to sweeping views along the coastline.

One visitor noted on Tripadvisor: “This has to be the nicest beach I’ve ever been to in the UK. The beach is immaculately clean. No rubbish at all.”

Another shared: “I recently visited Brean Beach and Down for a walk as part of a group, and I took my camera. I was totally blown away by the incredible views from the top of Brean Down and the incredible history at the fort.

“The beach was busy, and there was an ice cream van there, which was a lovely addition. Really worth a visit!”.

Many visitors choose to make their way to the summit of the Down and enjoy the breathtaking 1.5-mile walk along the natural pier — the very spot where film crews were reportedly seen in the latter part of 2025.

The second series of The Crow Girl made its debut on Paramount+ on 20 July 2026, following an alleged three-month filming schedule that commenced in November the previous year.

Both seasons are now available to stream on the platform and can also be rented via Amazon Prime.
