Following the primary, Ruffalo shared a post on Bluesky applauding El-Sayed’s victory over Rep. Haley Stevens. The Avengers star argued that his preferred candidate prevailed despite facing what he described as significant financial opposition during the race.

And beat 60mil in PAC and AIPAC funding against him. They smeared him, they contorted his resume and played racist anti Muslim games and they got nothing. We don’t want it anymore. We want justice, we want fairness ,and we want your money out of our political system. Get out.

“And beat 60 mil in PAC and AIPAC funding against him,” Ruffalo wrote. He also claimed El-Sayed’s campaign endured a smear effort, adding, “They smeared him, they contorted his resume and played racist anti-Muslim games, and they got nothing.”

Ruffalo concluded his message by arguing that voters had rejected the influence of money in politics. “We don’t want it anymore. We want justice, we want fairness, and we want your money out of our political system. Get out,” he wrote.

The actor had publicly backed El-Sayed even before Election Day. During a fundraiser, Ruffalo described the campaign as part of a broader progressive movement that had been building for years. He also predicted that an El-Sayed victory would signal growing momentum for progressive candidates, despite the large sums spent by opponents.

Ruffalo has become one of Hollywood’s most outspoken political voices in recent years. He frequently uses his social media platforms and public appearances to weigh in on political issues and candidates. More recently, he criticized Democratic Sen. John Fetterman over his stance on Israel, while earlier this year he also delivered sharp remarks about President Donald Trump during a Golden Globes appearance.

El-Sayed’s Michigan primary victory quickly sparked discussion online. Many supporters celebrated the result as a significant moment for the progressive wing of the Democratic Party. Ruffalo’s comments echoed that sentiment, framing the outcome as a rejection of establishment politics and heavy campaign spending.
