Best Western Rewards has launched a quick-turnaround promotion that pays out a $31 gift card for every qualified stay completed by December 31, 2026, up to four stays and $124 in total.
There’s a wrinkle in the booking window. You’ll need to register and book by September 7, 2026, which leaves less than a week to lock in any Best Western stays you’re planning for the rest of the year.
What stands out is that Canadian residents receive the gift card in Canadian dollars, so there’s no exchange-rate haircut on the $31. If you have a road trip or an airport night coming up this fall, this one is worth a couple of minutes of your time.
Mechanically it’s simple, but the sequencing matters. Registration and Best Western Rewards membership both need to be in place before your first qualifying stay, and any stay completed before you register won’t count.

Only stays at a rate eligible for earning Best Western Rewards points qualify. That rules out bookings through online travel agencies and tour operators, along with special discounted rates, so book through Best Western’s own website or app.
Your gift card is emailed to the address on your Best Western Rewards profile roughly two weeks after checkout, so make sure that address is current when you register. It won’t be mailed, and it can’t be applied to the stay that earned it, only to a later booking.

A separate global promotion kicks in the day after the booking window closes. Register for the double points offer and every qualified stay completed between September 8 and December 31, 2026 earns a bonus equal to your base points, at any Best Western branded hotel worldwide, with no cap.
The two promotions require separate registrations, and your earning preference needs to be set to points rather than airline miles. The bonus posts about two weeks after the base points do, and the same rate exclusions apply.
Best Western has historically let its promotions stack, so I’d expect a stay booked by September 7 and completed from September 8 onward to earn both the gift card and the double points. Each set of terms does carry the usual line about not being valid with any other offer, so treat the combination as likely rather than guaranteed.

Flat-dollar bonuses favour cheap stays, and Best Western’s footprint is full of them. Take a one-night stay at $150 (CAD) at a highway-side property somewhere between Toronto and Ottawa.

As the rate climbs, the percentage shrinks, since a $400 stay earns the same $31 card as a $150 one. If you have flexibility, several cheap, separate stays will always beat one long, expensive one under this structure.
Elite members do a little better on the points side. Gold earns a 10% bonus on base points, Platinum 15%, Diamond 30%, and Diamond Select 50%, and all of it stacks on top of the promotional payouts.
Keep in mind that Best Western has had no co-branded credit card in Canada since 2023, so stay-based promotions like this one are the main way for Canadian members to squeeze extra value out of the program.
Who Should Take Advantage?
Best Western isn’t a brand we write about much, and it’s rarely the aspirational pick. Where it earns its keep is in the smaller cities and suburbs where the big chains thin out and the alternatives are a motel or a questionable rental.
When I travelled to Nanaimo a few years ago, there weren’t many options in town, and I ended up at the Best Western Dorchester Hotel. Nothing about it was fancy, but the location was excellent and the stay was very comfortable, which is exactly the kind of night this promotion is built for.
The short answer is anyone with a plausible Best Western stay in North America before the end of the year. With more than 180 locations across Canada, that covers a lot of fall road trips, hockey weekends, and pre-flight airport nights.
The one condition worth thinking through is that you need at least two stays to come out ahead. One stay earns the card, and a second stay between mid-September and March 1, 2027 is where you spend it. If a single trip is all you have on the horizon, the gift card will likely expire in your inbox.
Skip it if you’d be inventing a stay to chase the bonus. A $31 rebate doesn’t justify $150 of spending you wouldn’t otherwise do, and the March 1 expiry is tight enough that unplanned cards tend to go unused.
Conclusion
My honest take is that this is a promotion for stays you were going to book anyway, and it’s a good one on those terms. Roughly 27% back on a cheap one-night stay is well above what most hotel promotions deliver, and the CAD payout for Canadian residents means the headline number is the real number.
If I had a fall drive trip on the calendar, I’d register, book the nights I can firm up before September 7, and set a reminder to use the cards on the next trip before March 1. If I didn’t, I’d let this one pass and wait for the next stacking opportunity.
