Highlights! Largest betting underdog stuns UFC newcomer with nasty head kick, choke | UFC Vegas 104

Carlos Vera was the biggest betting underdog on the card earlier tonight (Sat., March 15, 2025) at UFC Vegas 104 LIVE on ESPN+ from inside UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada, but that didn’t stop the bantamweight prospect from turning in a sensational submission finish over a highly-touted knockout artist.

Vera, who suffered a lopsided decision loss in his official Octagon debut just over one year ago, was a massive +500 underdog to leave “Sin City” with a victory this weekend. Those odds may have been a bit inflated given his first UFC performance, but it’s also because his opponent, Josias Musasa, was undefeated and coming off a win on the Contender Series.

Musasa did miss weight on Friday so that was looming over Saturday’s matchup as well.

Vera surprised early by exchanging on the feet and threatening with high kicks. Musasa is a more polished striker, but he seemed to be having an issue timing Vera and finding his range. This allowed Vera to move inside again as he finished a combination off with a right kick that leveled Musasa. Vera quickly jumped on top, took his back, and put the finishing touches on a submission stoppage.

Check out the final moments in the above video player.

Vera, 37, came into this fight with some submission finishes on his pro record, but he is not known for his fight-ending ability on the feet. It was pretty impressive and a great way for Vera to steal Musasa’s shine and redeem his lackluster UFC debut last year.
