UFC Atlanta results include torn ACL — ‘As soon as I got hit, my leg buckled’

There was a lot of talk about bad knees heading into UFC Atlanta, but when all was said and done, Miranda Maverick is the one who will find herself on the sidelines for the remainder of 2025. That’s because the 27 year-old flyweight blew out her ACL during the second round of her Rose Namajunas fight last weekend on ESPN.

Maverick ultimately lost by unanimous decision.

“Not the result I wanted but I fought with what I had,” Maverick wrote on Instagram. “My ACL was torn in the second round (I’ll have to rewatch to know exactly when but I think it was during a takedown exchange). I never got dropped, but I was unstable on my legs so as soon as I got hit in the third round my leg buckled.”

“I’m blessed I was able to make it to the end of the fight and I’m honored that I got to share the cage with the legend Rose Namajunas,” Maverick continued. “I’ll take this layoff in stride and you will see me again! But for now time to recover and figure some things out. I’m blessed to have these kind of opportunities and live the life that I do!”

Her loss to “Thug” snapped a four-fight win streak.

Maverick (15-6) was already ranked four spots below Namajunas in the official flyweight rankings and will likely hold on to her current spot in the 125-pound pecking order. Similarly, the former strawweight champ is unlikely to gain any ground when the new rankings are posted on Tuesday morning.
