Daniel Cormier reacts to Jon Jones’ planned UFC comeback at the White House: ‘Why are you playing with people’s emotions?’

Daniel Cormier is not happy with Jon Jones going in and out of retirement, but can you blame him?

Jones, who announced his official UFC retirement just three weeks ago, quickly jumped back into the UFC testing pool last weekend after learning about the promotion’s intention to host an event at the White House in 2026. This sparked Jones’ interest to return to fighting so he decided to end his retirement (for now).

Obviously, this didn’t sit well with many fighters and fans around the combat community. Jones had held up the UFC’s heavyweight division for six months as the promotion tried to book a title unification bout between “Bones” and Tom Aspinall. Jones ultimately wanted no part of that matchup and finally decided to call an end to his career. Fans who wanted to see that matchup were bummed, but there was finally some clarity in the heavyweight division.

That’s because Aspinall was promoted to undisputed champion and is already looking to stay active.

Now that Jones is putting himself back in the mix at heavyweight it has sparked mixed emotions. Cormier, who is Jones’ biggest rival of all time, isn’t happy to see the former champion play around with retirement and the emotions of fight fans. “DC” wants Jones to decide once and for all if he’s going to fight or step away again.

“Why are you playing with people’s emotions?” asked Cormier during a recent episode of his YouTube show. “Don’t keep rolling around playing with our emotions.”

“You either fight, or you hit the door.”

What say you, Maniacs? Any issue with the way Jones handled his UFC retirement and subsequent comeback?

Let’s discuss!
