Conor McGregor has officially popped up on UFC’s drug test registry, but does it actually mean anything for his long-awaited Octagon return?
As of now, nobody really knows for sure.
Earlier this week, McGregor took to social media to reveal that he had submitted his first UFC drug test in over 10 months. This included urine and blood samples collected by a professional on his yacht. McGregor was “ecstatic” to finally turn in a sample and claimed that he was “in shape.”
On Friday, McGregor’s recent sampling finally showed up on UFC’s official drug test registry. Fight fans knew it was going to pop up since “Notorious” shared the news earlier in the week, but it was still a shock. After all, McGregor hasn’t competed since July 2021 and has been contemplating a UFC return ever since.
Getting back into UFC’s drug-testing pool and providing clean samples is the first step in the process of McGregor’s comeback, but does it mean the former UFC double champion will book a fight anytime soon?
After all, McGregor has made it known that he intends to compete on UFC’s upcoming White House card in July 2026. That is nearly one year away. So while it’s nice to see McGregor following UFC protocol and getting back in the system, it doesn’t mean his return will happen any sooner than next summer.
However, we know how UFC operates. Dana White is expected to meet with McGregor in Italy sometime in the near future and if that goes well then everything is subject to change.
