Bryce Mitchell has released his first statement since making controversial and extremely inappropriate remarks about Adolf Hitler, who “Thug Nasty” referred to as a “good guy.”
Earlier this week, Mitchell hosted the first official episode of his new podcast and ended up talking about Hitler and the Holocaust. Shockingly, the UFC featherweight contender ended up showing support for Hitler and made some hurtful remarks about the Jewish community.
UFC CEO Dana White completely destroyed Mitchell after hearing about his insensitive remarks, but still refused to hand down any specific punishment. After all, UFC is all about “free speech.” White did say that the promotion reached out to Mitchell to explain their collective disappointment.
On Saturday, Mitchell took to Instagram to break his silence and issue fight fans the most sincere apology he could. It wasn’t the most articulate or heartfelt apology, but “Thug Nasty” certainly tried. Will it be enough to wipe away the bad publicity he’s received since showing support for Hitler just a few days ago? Most likely not.
“In the future I will be much more considerate wen talking about the suffering of all peoples,” wrote Mitchell in an opening caption.
Mitchell’s official statement can be read below:
“I’m sorry I sounded insensitive. I definitely was not trying to offend anybody, but I know I did. I know that a lot of people died in the Holocaust, and that’s a fact. Hitler did a lot of evil things, I think we can agree on that. I’m definitely not a Nazi, and definitely do not condone any of the evil things Hitler did.”
What do you think, fight fans? Are you forgiving Mitchell at any point for this?
Sound off!
