Sofia Vergara drops sultry bikini shots on Instagram

Sofia Vergara took to her Instagram and dropped new bikini photos for her throwback Thursday post. The 52-year-old continued her run, and this time, returned with sizzling beach snaps from her old modeling times. Vergara’s new carousel saw her pose for stunning sun-kissed photos on the beach. Moreover, the television model turned up the heat a notch as she ditched the top for the sultry photoshoot.

In the first photo, Vergara posed for a close-up portrait and was seen in just a delicate and sparkly chain for the top across her upper body. The television personality covered her breasts with her hands as she looked delightfully towards the camera. Meanwhile, Vergara was also covered in some droplets of water and wore her hair down for the stunning shot.

On the other hand, the second photo saw Vergara striking a sexy pose while lying on her stomach on the sand. For this sultry snap, the reality TV star ditched the top and was seen wearing just bikini green-pink bottoms and small hoop earrings. Vergara served bold looks and flaunted her curves while being covered in some sand.

Meanwhile, the “American’s Got Talent” star’s latest bikini photos have racked up over 217K likes at the time of writing. Moreover, the comments section is also flooded with fans swooning over Vergara. Brazilian model Alessandra Ambrosio also gushed over the “Modern Family” actor and dropped a mermaid emoji under the post. Vergara’s latest throwback Thursday post comes after she previously shared other carousels in the last few weeks.

Ben Warren Is In Trouble Again

0

[Warning: The following post contains MAJOR spoilers about Grey’s Anatomy Season 21 Episode 8, “Hit the Floor.”]

It’s no secret that Ben Warren (Jason George) has had some major issues in his medical career at Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital. He was competent enough as an anesthesiologist, but as a surgical resident, he has often struggled to follow the rules. Remember when he was on probation for doing a C-section without the right equipment, even after the elevator opened for him to get help? Now that he’s back at the hospital full time, it seems his trend of agitating authority figures is going to continue apace on Grey’s Anatomy. Only this time there might be real consequences.

In the midseason premiere, the hospital deals with the fallout of Ben’s decision not to close the emergency department to traumas during the heatwave, which was a direct defiance of Teddy Altman’s (Kim Raver) orders. Sure, he was thinking like a first responder — and begrudgingly so — but he directly disobeyed his big boss, and now there are consequences.

After the dust settles on the day, and Altman has to play clean-up for another intern’s mistake, Ben approaches her with an idea that’s not altogether terrible. He wants to couple his firefighter knowhow with his medical training and update the emergency protocols of the hospital, which is somehow still unprepared for natural disasters despite everything that’s happened to its doctors over the years.

After Teddy offers a hard pass, he asks her to explain, and she puts him into his place without mincing words: “As much as you can’t seem to grasp this, you are a resident on a trial basis. You have no business devising protocols that you can’t follow. If I were you, I would spend less time assuming that you have a permanent position here and more time proving that you should have one. We’re done here, Dr. Warren,” she says.

Jason George did warn fans in an interview with TV Insider that his return to the hospital (and to Grey’s full time after the conclusion of spinoff Station 19) wouldn’t be smooth sailing, warning that Miranda Bailey (Chandra Wilson) has reason to worry “if he’s actually going to make it through the program” because Ben’s the kind of guy who’ll “risk his job” to do the right thing. And now it seems like he’s already got at least one strike against him where the reigning chief of surgery is concerned. To be continued…

Elsewhere in the episode, we learn that the gunshot heard in the midseason premiere teasers was taken not by any of our heroes, but by the convenience store robber himself, with Lucas Adams (Niko Terho) left suffering from some post-traumatic stress. Luckily for him, Ben is good at calming people down during a panic attack, and he helps him through it.

Also, Jo Wilson (Camilla Luddington) walks away without physical injury but finds out that the stress of the stick-up threatens to cause preterm labor. She’ll need a procedure to close her cervix, and as much as she hates the idea of a younger OB intern doing it, she needs it now. Link (Chris Carmack) is a numbskull about it until Miranda sets him straight, so all’s well on that front, too.

We’ll have to wait and see whether and how Ben will take Teddy’s advice to heart when next week’s episode finds him treating an unexpected crash victim alongside Dr. Ndugu (Anthony Hill).

How high can the Rolls-Royce share price go in 2025? Here’s what the experts say

0

I’ve been watching broker forecasts for the Rolls-Royce Holdings (LSE: RR.) share price for a long time. And I’ve often had half a suspicion that all the analysts do every time it breaks new highs is just up their targets a bit.

And if that’s what they’ve been doing? Well, they’ve been right, haven’t they? So what do the experts say now?

Cracking results

Just look at that spike in the share price chart above. That was the result of Rolls-Royce smashing through 2024 expectations. On results day on 27 February, investors saw their dividends reinstated along with a new $1bn share buyback.

CEO Tufan Erginbilgiç told us: “We now expect to deliver underlying operating profit and free cash flow within the target ranges set at our Capital Markets Day, two years earlier than planned.”

City analysts have no doubt been working hard on their spreadsheets to work out their new price targets. And some of them were quick enough to get them out on results day itself. Is that the result of super efficient modelling software calculations, or fingers in the air? However they do it, I expect shareholders will be happy with the overall outcome.

Rapid price upgrades

Most of the new ratings that have come out since the results are strongly positive.

As an example, we saw a renewed buy rating from JPMorgan. The previous target price of 655p has already been well beaten, and it’s now been lifted to 900p. Rolls shares have already peaked as high as 812p, and at the time of writing they’ve backed off a bit to a few pennies below the 800p level.

Deutsche Bank is also sticking with a Buy, putting a new price target on the stock of a 860p to replace the previous 630p. I wonder how long it might be before that needs to be adjusted again?

But, in a move that shows they’re not all just sheep following each other, Berenberg still reckons we should sell and expects the price to plunge to a measly 240p. That would be a 70% crash, and could drop the forecast price-to-earnings (P/E) as low as 10. Ouch!

What does it mean?

So, we see a wide range of opinions between analysts, just as there is among private investors. What does it mean and what should we do about it?

For one thing, I think just going with the broker consensus can be a mistake. They have different priorities and shorter-term goals than private investors. On the other hand, I’ve heard people say we should just ignore the experts’ opinions and work it all out for ourselves. And while I can appreciate the thought, I don’t think that’s the best approach either.

No, I think we can maximise our chances by listening to all opinions, then doing our own research on top and making up our minds that way. Every bit of information and opinion we can absorb can make us increasingly better investors, little by little.

Billionaires Want To Steal Our Public Schools

Trump is running an administration of the billionaire, for the billionaire, by the billionaire. Anyone who has been paying attention to the news can see that, but what isn’t so obvious in all of the policy decisions is why some of these things are happening.

For instance, Republicans have always complained about the Department of Education, so when long time followers of politics heard Trump campaign on ending the Department of Education, there was probably some thought of there they go again.

2025 is different. Trump isn’t just a Republican president. He is a Republican president who is being guided by billionaires to raid the federal government and turn the resources of the people over to billionaires.

At a press conference on Thursday, Sen. Chris Murphy (D-CT) discussed why the billionaires are targeting the Department of Education.

Video of Murphy:

Sen. Murphy said:

Nobody in America wants the destruction of public education. The plan to eliminate the Department of Education is wildly unpopular in this country, except with a handful of people on the fringy right. So the question is, why are they doing it? Listen, I think Bernie’s point is really important, right?

Billionaires do not need public schools. Billionaires don’t understand the magic that happens in public schools. The billionaires that are in charge of our government, right now, send their kids to the most elite private schools, and if every public school disappears in this country, they will still be able to get their kids an education.

And it’s consistent with the entire way that they are approaching the first six months of this administration. Billionaires don’t need Medicaid. So to them, it doesn’t matter if Medicaid disappears and rural hospitals disappear. Clothes and addiction treatment centers shutter their doors because the billionaires will still get their health care.

They talk about Social Security being a Ponzi scheme. They’re shutting down Social Security offices around the country because they don’t need Social Security. They’re billionaires. They’re never going to need a Social Security check like millions of American seniors do in order to put food on the table.

Megyn Kelly SLAMS MSNBC Hosts for Their Comments on Child Cancer Victim Honored by Trump: ‘There’s No Curing You’ (VIDEO) | The Gateway Pundit

0

During a new episode of her podcast, Megyn Kelly slammed MNSBC hosts Nicolle Wallace and Rachel Maddow for their negative comments about DJ Daniel, the young cancer survivor honored by President Trump in his speech this week.

The comments on MSNBC were so toxic that even Trump talked about them today, suggesting that Wallace and Maddow should lose their jobs over it.

Trump Derangement Syndrome makes people say and do incredibly ugly things, and MSNBC is proof.

Partial transcript of Megyn Kelly’s comments via Real Clear Politics:

MEGYN KELLY: I don’t know what’s happened to this person. She used to be a Republican. She was the person who shepherded Chief Justice John Roberts through his confirmation process. It’s Nicole Wallace who now I think her next job will be with the Lincoln project. Here was her reaction to sweet 13 year old DJ… Oh my God. That is jaw dropping. We went back and looked to see what the reaction on-set was to her and even her fellow panelists, from Jen Psaki to Rachel Maddow, you could see Jen Psaki literally leaning away from her, and even Rachel Maddow, without commenting on that just moved away, bridged away to another topic. When you’ve gone too far, for Psaki and Maddow, you’ve gone too far period. Can you believe that?

She saw the same thing we saw, where his eyes got all big when President Trump said he was going to be made an honorary Secret Service member, he was so excited the hug, he threw his arms around the Secret Service Director. It was a sincere embrace, and that’s where she went. Like, “I hope he doesn’t die on President Trump’s Capitol Hill.”

There’s no curing you of TDS once you get it. It’s a lifelong affliction, and it really does warp the way you see everything around you. You see the pot of gold, and to you it looks like crap. You see a wonderful event for a child, and instead, you see only doom, gloom and darkness, if it has anything to do with the orange man. It’s strange how it’s like it’s broken for the rest of the country, they never really had it. And so now they look at these people and they’re not watching them… When you’re in the opposition, your numbers go up. At Fox News, our numbers always went up, when we were in the so-called opposition, it was Democrat president under Barack Obama, etc. Their numbers are not going up under MSNBC. Post election, they’re still withering on the vine.

Watch the clip below:

MSNBC has not issued a statement on the vile comments, which is amazing. Wallace and Maddow should be ashamed.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy says ‘Ukraine most interested in peace’ as he confirms US talks next week | World News

0

Volodymyr Zelenskyy has said Ukraine is “most interested in peace” and confirmed officials will hold talks with US partners in Saudi Arabia next week about ending the war with Russia.

It comes as Sir Keir Starmer is due to hold talks with European leaders on Friday about Ukraine.

The prime minister and French President Emmanuel Macron are seeking countries willing to supply troops for a peacekeeping force to defend a potential deal. The suggested agreement has already been rejected by Russia.

In his nightly address on Thursday, the Ukrainian president said his country was “most interested in peace”.

He also appeared to signal relations between the US and Ukraine were getting back on track after his disastrous White House visit – saying talks will take place in Saudi Arabia, but suggested he would not be part of those discussions.

The Ukrainian president said: “I am scheduled to visit Saudi Arabia to meet with the crown prince.

“After that, my team will stay in Saudi Arabia to work with American partners. Ukraine is most interested in peace.”

He added: “As we told President Trump, Ukraine is working and will work exclusively constructively for a quick and reliable peace.”

It comes around a week after the public row between the two men in the Oval Office. It has been followed this week by America freezing military aid to Ukraine.

Meanwhile, in an exchange with reporters on Thursday, the US president said his administration had made “a lot of progress” in recent days with both Ukraine and Russia, but did not specify further.

“I think what’s going to happen is Ukraine wants to make a deal, because I don’t think they have a choice,” Mr Trump said.

“I also think that Russia wants to make a deal because in a certain different way – a different way that only I know, only I know – they have no choice either.”

Earlier on Thursday, Steve Witkoff, a senior US official, praised a letter sent from Mr Zelenskyy to Mr Trump as a “positive first step” following their unsuccessful meeting.

“We are now in discussions to coordinate a meeting with the Ukrainians in Riyadh or even potentially Jeddah,” he said. “The city is moving around a little bit, but it will be Saudi Arabia.”

Mr Witkoff said Washington was trying to agree on a framework for a possible peace agreement in Ukraine.

It has also been pushing for the signing of a critical minerals deal with Ukraine – but it is unclear if that will be part of the talks next week.

US-UK defence secretaries meet

Defence Secretary John Healey said Mr Trump has “asked Europe to step up, and we are” as he started talks in Washington with his US counterpart Pete Hegseth on Thursday.

Mr Hegseth said it was “very encouraging” to see France and the UK say they are prepared to take a leading role.

Sir Keir has been seeking to support Ukraine and show Mr Trump the UK is committed to stepping up its defence efforts – while mooting plans for a peacekeeping force.

Russian foreign minister Sergei Lavrov said the move would amount to the “direct, official and unveiled involvement of NATO members in the war against Russia”.

While Andrei Kelin, Russian ambassador to the UK, said in an interview with Sky News’ The World With Yalda Hakim, that Russia wanted “quick peace” in Ukraine and the UK was at the “head of those resisting” it.

European leaders meanwhile backed new defence spending plans aimed at freeing billions for the continent’s security.

The 27 leaders signed off on a move to loosen budget restrictions so that willing EU countries can increase their spending.

On Thursday evening, Russia launched a mass drone attack on the Black Sea port of Odesa, damaging energy infrastructure and starting fires, according to a local governor.

SpaceX loses contact with spacecraft during Starship test flight : NPR

Nearly two months after an explosion sent flaming debris raining down on the Turks and Caicos, SpaceX launched another mammoth Starship rocket on Thursday, but lost contact minutes into the test flight as the spacecraft came tumbling down and broke apart.

This time, wreckage from the latest explosion was seen streaming from the skies over Florida. It was not immediately known whether the spacecraft’s self-destruct system had kicked in to blow it up.

The 403-foot rocket blasted off from Texas. SpaceX caught the first-stage booster back at the pad with giant mechanical arms, but engines on the spacecraft on top started shutting down as it streaked eastward for what was supposed to be a controlled entry over the Indian Ocean, half a world away. Contact was lost as the spacecraft went into an out-of-control spin.

Starship reached nearly 90 miles in altitude before trouble struck and before four mock satellites could be deployed. It was not immediately clear where it came down, but images of flaming debris were captured from Florida, including near Cape Canaveral, and posted online.

The space-skimming flight was supposed to last an hour.

“Unfortunately this happened last time too, so we have some practice at this now,” SpaceX flight commentator Dan Huot said from the launch site.

SpaceX later confirmed that the spacecraft experienced “a rapid unscheduled disassembly” during the ascent engine firing. “Our team immediately began coordination with safety officials to implement pre-planned contingency responses,” the company said in a statement posted online.

Starship didn’t make it quite as high or as far as last time.

NASA has booked Starship to land its astronauts on the moon later this decade. SpaceX’s Elon Musk is aiming for Mars with Starship, the world’s biggest and most powerful rocket.

Like last time, Starship had mock satellites to release once the craft reached space on this eighth test flight as a practice for future missions. They resembled SpaceX’s Starlink internet satellites, thousands of which currently orbit Earth, and were meant to fall back down following their brief taste of space.

Starship’s flaps, computers and fuel system were redesigned in preparation for the next big step: returning the spacecraft to the launch site just like the booster.

During the last demo, SpaceX captured the booster at the launch pad, but the spacecraft blew up several minutes later over the Atlantic. No injuries or major damage were reported.

According to an investigation that remains ongoing, leaking fuel triggered a series of fires that shut down the spacecraft’s engines. The on-board self-destruct system kicked in as planned.

SpaceX said it made several improvements to the spacecraft following the accident, and the Federal Aviation Administration recently cleared Starship once more for launch.

Starships soar out of the southernmost tip of Texas near the Mexican border. SpaceX is building another Starship complex at Cape Canaveral, Florida, home to the company’s smaller Falcon rockets that ferry astronauts and satellites to orbit.

Former L.A. firefighter union treasurer under scrutiny over car purchase

0

A former labor leader for Los Angeles firefighters is under scrutiny for buying a union car at an alleged discount — and then reporting an even lower sale price to the state to avoid paying taxes, two people with knowledge of the transactions told The Times.

Domingo Albarran Jr., a former Los Angeles Fire Department captain who served as treasurer of the United Firefighters of Los Angeles City, reported to the Department of Motor Vehicles that he purchased the 2017 Chevrolet Malibu from the union for $500 in December 2022. The sources said that Albarran paid more — a total of $4,000 — for the car but slashed the sale price in documents he filed with the state.

The incoming UFLAC treasurer noticed the discrepancy and demanded Albarran return the vehicle to the union, according to the sources, who asked not to be named in order to discuss the matter candidly. The new treasurer also discovered that Albarran had inflated the vehicle’s mileage when he obtained an estimate from Kelley Blue Book, the sources said. A Kelley Blue Book spokesperson said a 2017 Malibu probably would have been worth more than $10,000 at the time of the sale.

Albarran, who has since retired, acknowledged to The Times that he underreported the sale price to the DMV because he did not want to pay taxes, and said he misread the odometer and mistakenly plugged in the wrong mileage when he obtained the Kelley Blue Book estimate. But he said the car was in poor condition and needed major repairs, and was not worth more than double what he paid.

“I don’t want to pay a lot of taxes on a vehicle that was potentially a lemon, but whatever, I own that 100%,” he said, adding that the price he paid was fair because the vehicle needed up to $2,000 in repairs.

City payroll records show Albarran made more than $370,000 in 2023 in pay and benefits before he retired. That included $189,339 in overtime pay.

The episode comes as another former officer of the labor organization faces an internal investigation over allegations that he engaged in financial improprieties involving the union’s charity for injured firefighters and their families, including using $5,000 of the charity’s money for his personal expenses. Adam Walker, a former UFLAC secretary who still works for the LAFD, told The Times that the allegations are false.

The International Assn. of Fire Fighters has suspended Walker from his union leadership post and accused him of improperly depositing about $75,000 of the charity’s funds into his personal accounts from December 2022 to January 2024, internal IAFF records reviewed by The Times show.

Walker said in an interview that the deposits were reimbursements for his legitimate out-of-pocket expenses for two golf tournaments that raised money for a disabled former firefighter. He said the account from which deposits were made was set up for the tournaments and not for the charity, the UFLAC Fire Foundation.

“Not one penny of the money was foundation money,” he said.

The UFLAC treasurer who uncovered the problems with Albarran’s car purchase reported it to the International Assn. of Fire Fighters, the parent organization of UFLAC and other local firefighter unions across the country, said the two sources familiar with the situation. One of the sources said the IAFF is conducting a broad examination of UFLAC’s finances, including the use of union credit cards by officers.

UFLAC President Freddy Escobar declined to comment on the allegations against Albarran and did not answer a written question from The Times about the IAFF financial review.

UFLAC is a political force in L.A., with elected officials valuing its endorsements and financial contributions to campaigns.

Escobar and other UFLAC leaders have criticized Mayor Karen Bass for firing LAFD Chief Kristin Crowley last month. Bass has said Crowley failed to adequately prepare for the Jan. 7 fire that destroyed swaths of Pacific Palisades and killed 12 people. On Tuesday, the City Council voted 13 to 2 to deny Crowley’s appeal of her firing.

Albarran’s case dates to 2022, when he offered to buy the Malibu sedan he had been driving for years in the course of performing his union duties. Officers typically are assigned a work car if they drive above a certain number of miles a year, because it’s cheaper than reimbursing them for mileage, the two sources said.

Before Albarran’s purchase was final, he charged to a union credit card roughly $1,500 in mechanical work and improvements to the car, including installing two new tires and flushing its transmission, the sources said.

In an interview, Albarran told The Times those expenses were for routine maintenance and safety upgrades.

“That needed to be done whether I was buying it or whether the union was going to keep it,” Albarran said, adding that the steel belt was exposed on the tires. “Am I supposed to drive around in the vehicle with tires that are unsafe? And they were worn out while [the car] belonged to the union.”

Albarran was also accused by the incoming treasurer of purchasing gas dozens of times for a personal vehicle with a union credit card, the sources said. After finding receipts in which the amount of gas purchased exceeded the roughly 13 gallons in a Malibu tank, the incoming treasurer located surveillance video of Albarran refueling his personal car at gas stations, the sources said.

Albarran said in an interview that he filled up his personal vehicle using the union credit card 10 times “at the most” over four years — and only when the Malibu was in the shop, though he said he did not keep any maintenance records. He said getting reimbursed by the union board for the number of miles he drove for work would have cost more.

“It was way cheaper to the union to just pay for fuel,” he said.

The two sources said Albarran reported to the union board that the Malibu had 175,000 miles on it, which put the car’s Kelley Blue Book trade-in value at $4,072 to $5,821, or an average of $4,947. Trade-in estimates are typically lower than estimates for private party sales.

Escobar and six other union board members signed the Kelley Blue Book trade-in estimate with the higher mileage, dated December 2022, according to a copy of the document obtained by The Times.

Albarran reported to the DMV that the car’s actual mileage was 145,779. Kelley Blue Book said the fair purchase price of a 2017 Malibu with that mileage would have been within the range of $8,855 to $11,422, or an average of $10,139 when the sale occurred. According to the DMV, the union had purchased the 2017 car new, for more than $30,000.

Albarran said he thought tht $4,000 was a fair price because of the condition of the car and that he quickly returned the Malibu to the union — which refunded his $4,000 — when he was asked to.
