Mike Johnson Gives Away The DOGE Fraud Scam

In case you were wondering where Elon Musk’s shady and illegal DOGE data breach was going and what the endgame was behind it all, Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) gave away the game on CNN’s State of the Union.

Dana Bash asked, “ Did you talk to him about when you pass the bill to keep the government running, at least you hope you will do so, that you will include cuts in that, that mirror what he is trying to do? Big cuts, in some cases almost eliminating agencies.”

Johnson answered, “Yes, we’re going to need a few more weeks, maybe a month or more to qualify and quantify and then codify what Doge effort is all about, and that is eliminating fraud, waste, and abuse in the government. He genuinely believes they may be able to find as much as 1 trillion, and that is going to make a big difference, obviously, in the budgeting for the federal government and the appropriations process going forward.”

Bash asked, “Did he show you what he’s doing?”

Speaker Johnson replied:

Yes, he has. He’s shown me, um, many of the examples of the outrageous abuses. And I’m telling you, Dana, when the American people understand what has been happening with our taxpayer dollars, that Congress has been unable to discern, even with our best oversight efforts, Elon has been able to crack the code.

He’s inside the belly of the beast of the bureaucracy and the algorithms are crawling through the data constantly.

Video of Johnson:

Elon Musk is using algorithms to come up with claims of fraud in programs that Republicans want to cut, and then instead of going through the legislative process, the House is going to take Musk’s word for it, and authorize those cuts.

The name of the game is cutting programs to pay for tax cuts for the wealthy and corporations.

There is no way that Republicans would be able to get these cuts through Congress otherwise, so they are doing an end around.

Musk and House Republicans are going to claim that there is fraud in Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security. Musk will magically find fraud in things that Republicans have always wanted to cut.

It is a scam. It’s coming, and people better get ready.

What do you think of Johnson saying the House will pass DOGE cuts? Share your opinion in the comments below.

If Europe Wants Zelensky? Then Europe Should Go to War! | The Gateway Pundit

Volodymyr Zelensky came to the White House to lecture President Trump and was shown the door. And Americans cheer a real leader for once! – White House screengrab

Guest post by Drieu Godfridi from Belgium

Without American support, Ukraine will fall. Not Crimea and the Donbas: Ukraine. Despite the bravery of its soldiers – real, and deserving of recognition, for these people are dying for their country! – Ukraine is the cat’s paw, were it not for the support of almighty America.

Consequently, to come out and publicly bite the VP and President of the country without which Ukraine will be a Russian province in six months’ time – a feat that ex-actor Zelensky has just achieved – is childish, immature, counter-productive, and quite delirious. Ukraine deserves better.

You can discuss American plans for peace in Ukraine, debate them, oppose them: of course! But not in front of the cameras, and certainly not in that professorial tone that does not suit the man who has received 350 billion in American aid over the last three years.

Will Europe take the place of the United States in Ukraine?

For three years, the European ‘elites’ and the EU in particular, have been waging a verbal all-out war against Russia, with the aim of recovering the Donbas and even Crimea. At the same time, in the name of the Green Deal, Europe has been methodically destroying its industrial, and therefore military, capacities. Collaborators with the Russian regime could not have done ‘better’.

You can’t wage war without the basic commodity of ammunition. Europe, financially bereft and militarily impotent, does not have the financial and military resources to take the place of the USA in Ukraine. Accustomed to fantasizing behind closed doors, the EU elites are forgetting that language is not demiurgic: you can’t create divisions with words.

In reality, the strategy of these martial European ‘elites’ is for the Americans to lead and finance the war against Russia. A proxy war that is all the more comfortable because we don’t have to pay for it in men, equipment or money. Then Trump came along, and the European strategy broke down.

Europe should remember that, beyond the case of Ukraine, it does not have the means, without American support, to oppose Russia militarily – just a second-rate power like Turkey.

What is at stake in the war in Ukraine is, therefore, vital for Europeans, but not in the way they think: the issue is to retain American protection or lose it. If we lose it, we lose everything. You can’t invent armies and military equipment that don’t exist in a fortnight.

There is no Atlanticism against the Americans.

Mark Rutte-style Europeans who profess a strictly observant Atlanticism, while opposing the US administration head-on, are a living – and sterile – contradiction. There will be no Atlanticism against the Americans. The American people have made a clear democratic choice: it is up to us to respect it.

It follows from the foregoing:

  1. The USA will impose a negotiated peace in Ukraine, because that is what it wants.
  2. Europeans will only regain their own military capability by destroying the Green Deal.

Boxer Gervonta Davis blames hair product after controversial title draw | World News

0

Boxer Gervonta Davis has held onto his WBA lightweight title despite voluntarily dropping a knee to the canvas and getting hair product wiped from his face.

His opponent, Lamont Roach, said the knee position should have counted as a “knockdown”.

Had it been, Davis would have lost a point and Roach would have won their bout in New York, leading to Davis’s first career defeat.

But the fight was scored as a majority draw, meaning that Davis – nicknamed Tank – held onto his belt.

One judge gave the contest to Davis 115-113, the other two scoring it 114-114.

Davis willingly took a knee near his corner in the ninth round before leaning over the ropes so his team could towel off the area around an eye.

He said grease had got into the eye after having his hair done a few days before the bout.

Referee Steve Willis did not count it as a knockdown, as it should be when a knee hits the canvas.

Roach commented: “It should have been a knockdown. If that was knockdown, I win the fight.

“He’s saying grease got in his eye, but if he takes a knee and the ref starts counting, it should be a knockdown.”

Other boxers were surprised, too.

Multi-division champion Terence Crawford said: “I never seen someone take a knee and they don’t count it as a knockdown.”

Roach called for a rematch afterwards.

“For sure, Lamont is a great fighter,” Davis said.

“He got the skills and the punching power. It was a lesson learned. Shout out to Lamont Roach and his whole team. Hopefully we can run it back in New York.”

LONDON — Britain, France and Ukraine have agreed to work on a ceasefire plan to present to the United States, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer said Sunday as he prepared to host a summit of European leaders to discuss ending the war.

The summit has been overshadowed by the extraordinary scolding by U.S. President Donald Trump of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy at the White House on Friday for being ungrateful for U.S. support in Ukraine’s battle against the invasion by Russia.

But Starmer said he’s focused on being a bridge to restore peace talks and he used the collapse of those talks as an opportunity to re-engage with Trump and Zelenskyy and French President Emmanuel Macron rather than “ramp up the rhetoric.”

“We’ve now agreed that the United Kingdom, along with France and possibly one or two others, will work with Ukraine on a plan to stop the fighting, and then we’ll discuss that plan with the United States,” Starmer told the BBC. Starmer and Macron have both spoken to Trump since Friday.

Sunday’s meeting is an important step

The London meeting has taken on greater importance in defending the war-torn ally and shoring up the continent’s defenses.

Sunday’s summit is likely to include talks on establishing a European military force to be sent to Ukraine to underpin a ceasefire. Starmer said it would involve “a coalition of the willing.”

Starmer said he does not trust Russian President Vladimir Putin but does trust Trump.

“Do I believe Donald Trump when he says he wants lasting peace? The answer to that is yes,” he said.

Starmer said there are “intense discussions” to get a security guarantee from the U.S. as one of three components for a lasting peace.

“If there is to be a deal, if there is to be a stopping of the fighting, then that agreement has to be defended, because the worst of all outcomes is that there is a temporary pause and then (Russian President Vladimir) Putin comes again,” Starmer said. “That has happened in the past, I think it is a real risk, and that is why we must ensure that if there’s a deal, it is a lasting deal, not a temporary pause.”

The meeting at Lancaster House, a 200-year-old elegant mansion near Buckingham Palace, follows a charm offensive last week to engage with Trump at the White House to put Ukraine at the center of negotiations and tilt his allegiances toward Europe.

The summit will also include leaders from France, Germany, Denmark, Italy, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Spain, Canada, Finland, Sweden, the Czech Republic and Romania. The Turkish foreign minister, NATO secretary-general and the presidents of the European Commission and European Council will also attend.

European leaders are backing Zelenskyy

Zelenskyy received broad support from leaders across Europe after the White House fiasco, which was exceptional for featuring an attack on an ally — and because it was broadcast on live television.

Starmer embraced Zelenskyy when he arrived Saturday for a private meeting — a day before a get-together had been scheduled before the summit.

“As you heard from the cheers on the street outside, you have full backing across the United Kingdom,” Starmer said. “We stand with you, with Ukraine, for as long as it may take.”

Europe has been anxious since Trump initiated direct peace talks with Putin, who had been isolated by most Western leaders since invading Ukraine three years ago. The scramble to remain relevant and protect European interests as their once stalwart ally appeared to be cozying up to Putin was even more troubling when Trump called Zelenskyy a dictator and falsely said Ukraine started the war.

Meetings in recent days had provided some hope — until Zelenskyy’s visit to the White House.

Visits to the Oval Office by Macron, who had declared his visit a “turning point,” and Starmer were seen as steps in the right direction. The meetings were cordial and Trump even took a gentler tone toward Ukraine, though he would not commit to providing U.S. security guarantees and maintained Europe would need to provide peacekeeping troops.

Within 12 hours of Starmer’s return from Washington, the talk of peace seemed to collapse as Vice President JD Vance berated Zelenskyy for challenging Trump’s assertions that Russian President Vladimir Putin could be trusted.

“Starmer did an impressive job of asserting Europe’s agency in the war on Ukraine and conveying to President Trump that Europe is willing and able to take a leading role in implementing any credible peace deal,” said Rachel Ellehuus, director-general of Royal United Services Institute, a defense and security think tank. “Unfortunately, Friday’s White House meeting was a major step backward.”

Ukraine can no longer count on military or political support from the U.S. after Trump declared himself neutral in negotiations, Ellehuus said. She said Europe needs to step in and could release some 200 billion euros ($207 billion) in seized Russian assets to help fund that effort.

“The immediate goal of the meetings in London must be to keep Ukraine in the fight so it can negotiate from a maximum position of strength,” she said.

European leaders pledge to increase military spending

Starmer pledged this week to boost military spending to 2.5% of gross domestic product by 2027. Other European nations may follow suit.

Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala said Saturday that Europe faces a historic test and has to look after itself. He said European countries have to increase their arms spending to reach at least 3% of GDP.

“If we don’t increase our effort fast enough and let the aggressor dictate its conditions, we won’t end up well,” he said.

Macron, who said it was legitimate for the U.S. to shift its focus to dealing with China and Asia, also called for more defense spending as he called for unity among his neighbors.

“We should have woken up earlier,” Macron said. “I’ve been saying for years that we need a more sovereign, more united, more independent Europe.”

Inglewood police seek suspects in death of man who tried to stop catalytic converter theft

0

Inglewood police said Saturday they are searching for two suspects in the shooting death of a man who intervened in an attempted catalytic converter theft last week.

Early Tuesday morning, police said, the victim tried to stop two men from stealing a neighbor’s catalytic converter in the 1000 block of North Chester Avenue in Inglewood. One of the men fatally shot the victim in the chest, police said.

In a GoFundMe post, family members identified the man as Juan Sanchez, 48, and described him as a “a devoted husband, a loving father” and a “proud grandfather.”

“He was the kind of person who always put others before himself, offering a helping hand, a listening ear, or a smile that could brighten even the darkest days. His strength, wisdom, and generosity were the foundation of his family, and his loss leaves a void that can never be filled,” the post said.

As of Saturday, more than $36,000 had been raised support Sanchez’s family, which the fundraiser said includes a wife, two children and a grandchild.

Inglewood police said the suspects were driving a gold Toyota Camry with tinted windows and a sunroof. The model year is thought to be between 2002 and 2006.

Inglewood Police Department notice.

(Kristin Dennis)

Police released a flier with surveillance video images and additional information on the suspects.

Over the years, thieves in Southern California have made catalytic converters a popular target because they can be sold for their high concentration of precious metals.

In the most notorious incident, “General Hospital” actor Johnny Wactor was fatally shot in downtown Los Angeles last May as he approached several men trying to remove a catalytic converter from his car, police said. Three months later, prosecutors charged four men in connection with the crime.

In 2023, the Los Angeles City Council voted to make it illegal to possess an unattached catalytic converter without proof of ownership.

Through the first half of 2024, 2,113 catalytic converters were stolen in Los Angeles, according to data the LAPD released last year. The figure does not include Inglewood or unincorporated parts of Los Angeles County.

Gervonta Davis wants immediate rematch with Lamont Roach, but …

0

World Boxing Association (WBA) Lightweight champion Gervonta Davis and WBA super-featherweight title champion Lamont Roach fought to a majority draw last night (Sat., March 1, 2025) from inside Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York (watch highlights).

Instantly after the boxing match ended and the scorecards were read, both boxers agreed that they need to run it back in an immediate rematch.

During the post-fight press conference (watch here), “Tank” doubled down and demanded an immediate rematch. However, he got cryptic and said it would not happen this year and would fight someone else.

“I’m not sure, bro,” Davis told reporters when asked how likely a rematch will happen in 2025. “Definitely not sure, but hopefully we can get it before – nah, it probably won’t be this year. It’s definitely the fight I want next, but it’s not going to be next.”

When asked who he’d box next, Davis simply responded, “You might see in a minute. You definitely might see it in a minute.”

With Davis being as mysterious as he was, it sure seems like he had already signed up to fight someone before his match with Roach happened yesterday.

So, who is “Tank” boxing next?

Early in the post-fight press conference, Davis revealed the person he will fight next was in his locker room at some point (and it wasn’t Shakur Stevenson).

However, a former opponent was spotted in his locker room: Isaac “Pitbull” Cruz. The two fought back in 2021 (Davis won a unanimous decision), and to that point, Cruz was the only fighter not to get knocked out by “Tank.”

Cruz is coming off an early ‘Fight of the Year’ contender against Angel Fierro (watch highlights).

The other clear option for Davis is Vasiliy Lomachenko

In early 2024, “Tank” was linked for a fight with Lomachenko in what would have been a substantial Lightweight title unification super fight. The fight eventually fell apart after Lomachenko decided to take the rest of the year off.

M4 MacBook Air set for imminent launch, iPad Air to follow

0

Apple is preparing for two more upcoming product launches, with the M4 MacBook Air expected to land very soon, followed by the iPad Air.

The dust is barely starting to settle following the release of the iPhone 16e, and Apple is seemingly getting ready to introduce more hardware for consumers to buy. Those new items will probably be the M4 MacBook Air and a new iPad Air.

There have been some signs of updates on the way, including a reduction of stocks of the current MacBook Air in preparation for the new models. According to Bloomberg on Sunday, it’s also the case for the iPad Air.

Apple will be imminently introducing the M4 MacBook Air, the report adds. While an exact release date is not provided by the publication, it is thought that it could occur within a few days.

There is also a lack of timeline for the iPad Air, but Mark Gurman writes of expectations that the entry-level iPad could get an update at the same time as the Air line.

This is not the first time that launches of both iPad Air and MacBook Air in early 2025 has been claimed. They have surfaced in rumors alluding to an early 2025 launch for each.

Performance boosts

The MacBook Air update is expected to largely be a spec-bump upgrade, with the change in chip likely to be the main alteration. The same design and two sizes will be available as last time.

The base M4 chip is likely to be used, saving the M4 Pro and M4 Max for the MacBook Pro lineup. An update to the webcam to an ultra-wide version, appearing in macOS code references, is also a strong possibility.

The iPad Air is similarly anticipated to get the spec bump update treatment, but to the M3 chip rather than the M4. Product listings from a leaker showed M3 in relation to the 13-inch iPad Air, meaning it could keep the M4 for the current-gen iPad Pro line.

Who Is Cole Brings Plenty? What Happened to the ‘1923’ Actor Who Died – Hollywood Life

0

Season 2 of 1923 pays tribute to its cast member Cole Brings Plenty. Known for playing the role of Pete Plenty Clouds, the late 27-year-old actor died just three months before filming resumed for the Yellowstone prequel’s second season. After episode 1 of season 2 opened with an “in memoriam” note, fans wanted to learn more about Plenty and his mysterious death.

Honoring Plenty is his friend and fellow actor Jeremy Gauna, whom showrunner Taylor Sheridan chose to fill Plenty’s shoes. Gauna opened up to the Los Angeles Times about the difficult responsibility in playing the character and paying tribute to Plenty. Moreover, Gauna pointed out that he has an onus to portray Indigenous people accurately on screen.

“Without these stories being told, history could repeat itself,” Gauna said, adding, “And we definitely do not need to regress. We need to progress. We need to grow. We need to be better all the way around, throughout humanity and just in general. All I can say is that everyone has their story. Until we all get the opportunity to hear everybody’s story, it’s going to be difficult for everybody to understand others’ lessons if they don’t take the time to learn it.”

Learn more about Plenty, his 1923 character, career and death below.

Cole Brings Plenty’s Film Credits

Before 1923, Plenty also starred in The Tell Tale of Jim Bridger and Into the Wild Frontier, per his IMDB page.

Cole Brings Plenty’s Cause of Death Was Sealed by a Judge

According to The Kansas City Star, a Johnson County judge sealed court documents associated with Plenty’s mysterious death. The Sheriff’s Office noted in an email that it would not release additional information about the case at the request of Plenty’s family, the publication reported.

When Plenty was found dead, authorities reported that they did not suspect foul play.

Cole Brings Plenty Was Reported Missing Before His Death

In March 2024, Plenty’s family reported that he was missing. Shortly thereafter, he was found dead near an unoccupied vehicle.

The Lawrence Kansas Police Chief Rich Lockhart called the case “tragic” at the time “for everyone involved.” He also noted that the police department “worked very hard to investigate the incidents and worked very hard to find Cole.”

“None of us could have imagined this outcome,” Lockhart insisted, according to the public statement. “I learned through this series of events that our police department must work harder to increase trust with our Native American community members. Through meeting with Cole’s family members and members of our Native American community, I clearly see that we are not where we need to be in partnering with a community that is very important to Lawrence’s history and to its current culture. This sad series of events has been shared around the world. It’s my hope that future bridges we build and partnerships we form between our Native American community and our police department will create a relationship that will not only increase trust and understanding, but will also be a model for other communities.”

Cole Brings Plenty Was Friends With 1923‘s Jeremy Gauna

Gauna, who replaced Plenty in the role of Pete Plenty Clouds in 1923, spoke with the Los Angeles Times upon the release of season 2. The 1883 actor revealed that he and Plenty were “closed friends, and it all started through social media.” Furthermore, Gauna was acquainted with Plenty’s family.

“We would talk on a daily basis,” Gauna pointed out. “I would hear his struggles in life and hear the joy about what was to come with 1923. He was so pumped for this role. He couldn’t believe he was going to be in every episode.”

While it was “tough” to fill in for Plenty on set, Gauna noted that he did not assume the role “for the accolades,” adding, “I’m not doing it for anything other than just to make sure that everyone remembers and honors him. I understand that it’s my purpose. Some people might not fully grasp that, but I completely have, and Cole has been with me throughout the entire process.”

Europe’s James Bond village that can be reached by cable car | Europe | Travel

0

A tiny car-free Alpine village, accessible only by cable car and nestled high up in the Swiss mountains, boasts a rather glamorous Hollywood history.

This pretty village offers breathtaking views of the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau peaks that surround it and has provided the backdrop for several Bond films.

The Mürren-Schilthorn ski area has 13 lifts and a total of 56 kilometres of pistes. These lead from the village up to the summit of the Schilthorn at 2970 metres above sea level – making the ski area the highest in the Bernese Oberland. Due to the guaranteed snow, it usually remains open until the end of April so you still have time to make the most of the winter ski season.

But this pretty little village is just as stunning in the summer. From serene hiking trails and thrilling biking routes, Mürren welcomes all outdoor enthusiasts whatever the time of year.

The Alps, Europe’s highest mountain range, are shared by France, Switzerland, Italy, Germany, Austria and Slovenia. Shaped by glaciers 2,5 million years ago, this region has, apart from London, the highest density of Bond locations in the world.

Parts of the films Goldfinger, On Her Majesty’s Secret Service, For Your Eyes Only, Goldeneye and The World Is Not Enough were filmed here.

But it is the little village of Mürren, which was one of the principal location for the filming of On Her Majesty’s Secret Service (OHMSS) in 1969, that boasts the Piz Gloria, a revolving restaurant at the 2,970m (9,740 ft) high summit of the Schilthorn in Mürren.

The ring of tables along the windows takes an hour to do one complete revolution; enough time to tuck into a ‘James-Bond breakfast’ or ‘Spaghetti James Bond’ which are on offer. Help yourself to a free souvenir – menus and paper napkins with 007-logos are on offer.

Blofeld’s elaborate coat of arms (ARAE ET FOCI) is painted on the wall. There’s a James Bond Bar where you could indulge yor fantasies and order a martina, shaken not stirred of course, and a gift shop selling Bond souvenirs. But the real draw of course are the spectacular mountain views in every direction.

Mürren is a traditional Walser mountain village in the Bernese Highlands of Switzerland at an elevation of 1,638 metres (5,374 ft) above sea level. It cannot be reached by public road. The village features a view of the three towering mountains the Eiger, Monch and Jungfrau.

Mürren has a year-round population of just 450, but don’t worry, it has 2,000 hotel beds and is a popular tourist spot in both winter and summer.

At the foot of the Schilthorn peak, which is accessible by cable car, it lies close to the Lauterbrunnen Valley, with its subterranean, glacial Trümmelbach Falls. Themed trails on the Allmendhubel peak include the Flower Panorama and North Face paths.

Mürren station is the terminus of the Bergbahn Lauterbrunnen-Murren which consists of a cable car and a connecting narrow guage railway that connects Mürren to Lauterbrunnen.

A series of four cable cars, known as the Luftseilbahn Stechelberg-Mürren-Schilthorn (LSMS), provide transportation from Mürren downhill to Gimmelwald and Stechelberg, and uphill to the summit of the Schilthorn and the revolving Piz Gloria restaurant. The Mürren station for these cable cars is approximately 800 metres (2,600 ft) south-west of the railway station at the other end of Mürren.

The cable car linking Stechelberg and Mürren is reportedly the steepest in the world as it climbs 775 meters over a track length of nearly 1,200 meters at an incline of 159.4 percent.

The area was a principal filming location for the 1969 Bond film On Her Majesty’s Secret Service is which Bond, played for the first and only time by George Lazenby made his escape from the headquarters of Ernst Stavro Blofeld played by Telly Savalas and fled four of Blofeld’s henchmen in a car driven by his girlfriend Tracy played by Diana Rigg.

In 1928, the Inferno Race was set up, and continues to this day. It comprises of cross-country, giant slalom and downhill races, is the longest (15.8 km, 9.8 mi) and largest amateur ski race in the world, with a limit of 1800 participants. It is held in January. The fastest entrants complete the 15.8 km from the Schilthorn to Lauterbrunnen in only 15 minutes, which is probably faster than even James Bond could manage.

Unusual craving is a red flag sign you have iron deficiency

0

Iron deficiency can lead to symptoms such as fatigue, pale skin, dizziness, and brittle nails and hair. Iron is a crucial mineral in the production of haemoglobin, a protein that transports oxygen from the lungs throughout the body.

When iron levels drop, conditions like anaemia can occur. A peculiar craving could signal a lack of this nutrient.

Iron deficiency can be triggered by various factors, including absorption issues in individuals with coeliac disease or an iron-poor diet.

While fatigue is one of the most common signs, other symptoms include pale skin, dizziness, headaches, a cold sensation in hands and feet, and fragile hair and nails, according to 20minutos.

An unusual desire to eat ice, known as pagophagia, could be linked to iron deficiency. This condition is part of pica, a disorder that leads to consuming non-food items.

Other forms of pica include geophagia, characterised by eating soil, clay or sand, and amylophagia, associated with starch consumption. Instances have also been reported of people craving substances like coal, chalk, paper, ashes or hair.

The National Library of Medicine states that while pica is more prevalent in children, it can also appear in adults with iron deficiency, even if they haven’t developed anaemia.

While munching on ice might not seem immediately harmful, the condition known as pica – which involves ingesting non-food substances – can pose serious health risks. These could range from poisoning to intestinal blockages and digestive system disruptions.

Symptoms of potential poisoning from pica include abdominal pain and bloating, extreme tiredness, nausea, and bouts of diarrhoea. If you find yourself constantly wanting to eat ice or other non-edible items, it’s recommended to seek medical advice.

This could be a symptom of iron deficiency, which needs assessment and treatment. Is an insatiable craving and chewing of ice a sign of anaemia?

Does constantly craving and chewing ice indicate anaemia?

Rajiv K. Pruthi, M.B.B.S. responds :”Possibly. The term “pica” describes craving and chewing substances that have no nutritional value – such as ice, clay, soil or paper. Craving and chewing ice, known as pagophagia, is often associated with iron deficiency, with or without anemia, although the reason is unclear.

He said: “Less commonly, other nutritional problems may cause you to crave and chew ice. And in some individuals, pica is a sign of emotional problems, such as stress, obsessive-compulsive disorder or a developmental disorder.

“A thorough medical evaluation can help determine if pica is due to an underlying medical condition. If the cause of pica is an emotional or developmental issue, cognitive behavioural therapy may be helpful.”
