Hamas accepts draft Gaze ceasefire agreement and release of some Israeli hostages | World News

0

Hamas has accepted a draft ceasefire agreement and the release of dozens of hostages, with an Israeli official saying the details are being finalised.

Hamas said negotiations had reached their “final stage” and it hoped this round of negotiations would lead to a deal.

An Israeli official said: “We are close, we are not there yet.”

“I believe we will get a ceasefire,” US secretary of state Antony Blinken said. “It’s right on the brink. It’s closer than it’s ever been before.”

Gaza ceasefire could be ‘hours away’

Negotiators have been working on the ceasefire during more than eight hours of talks in Qatar’s capital Doha.

The deal is expected to halt the most deadly and destructive war between Israel and Hamas.

It would bring respite to the Gaza Strip, where 90% of the population of 2.3 million have been displaced during nearly a year and a half of war and many are at risk of famine.

Read more: What’s in the proposed deal?

Nearly 100 Israeli hostages are still being held captive inside Gaza, with the military believing at least a third of those are dead.

The agreement would see the hostages released in exchange for Palestinians and militants imprisoned by Israel.

Israeli forces would withdraw from cities and towns in the Gaza Strip, allowing Palestinians to return to what remains of their homes, and there would be a surge in humanitarian aid.

Analysis: Deal might be close, but there are many unanswered questions

More than 46,000 Palestinians have been killed during Israel’s war on Hamas in Gaza, more than half of them women and children, according to the enclave’s Hamas-run health ministry.

The war began after Hamas militants rampaged into Israel and killed around 1,200 people and abducted another 250 on 7 October 2023. Around half of the hostages were freed during a brief ceasefire in November that year.

Any deal – if reached – would not go into effect immediately and would need approval from Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s security cabinet and then his full cabinet.

The Islamic Jihad militant group, which is separate from Hamas and also has hostages in Gaza, said it was sending a senior delegation to Doha to take part in the final arrangements for a ceasefire deal.

Thousands of Israelis rallied in Tel Aviv on Tuesday night in support of the proposals, but in Jerusalem hundreds of hard-liners marched against the deal.

STILFONTEIN, South Africa — Months after South African authorities initially cut off supplies to miners working illegally in an abandoned gold mine, rescuers brought dozens of bodies and emaciated survivors to the surface Tuesday with hundreds more still believed to be underground, many of them dead and others too weak to come out on their own.

At least 60 bodies and 92 survivors had been pulled from one of South Africa’s deepest mines since Monday in a red cagelike device lowered thousands of feet underground, police said. Police are uncertain how many miners remain inside but said it is likely in the hundreds. Another nine bodies were brought out Friday in a community-led rescue effort, according to a group representing the miners.

The mine has been the scene of a tense standoff between police, miners and members of the local community since authorities launched an operation in November to force the miners out by cutting off food and water from the surface for a period of time. At the time, a Cabinet minister said the aim was to “smoke them out” and the government would not send help because they were “criminals.”

But that tactic has been fiercely criticized by civic groups and the community, and the South African government is under scrutiny for the way it has dealt with the issue at the Buffelsfontein Gold Mine, where more than 100 miners are believed to have died underground of starvation or dehydration, according to the group representing them.

Authorities, who removed the ropes and pulley system miners used to enter and to lower supplies, say the survivors are able to come out but refuse to because of fear of arrest. That has been disputed by the civic groups, which won a court case to force authorities to allow food, water and medicine to be sent down to the miners. But they say the supplies aren’t enough and many of the miners are dying of starvation and unable to climb out because the shaft is too steep.

One sign said there had been a “Sacrifice at Stilfontein” while some handcuffed survivors were led away in a line by police.

The community organized its own rescue operation on Friday before the official effort by authorities began Monday. They say a proper rescue operation should have been launched months ago.

“We are happy that this operation is happening, even though we believe that if it was done earlier, we wouldn’t even have one dead person,” said Mzukisi Jam, the regional chairperson of the South African National Civics Organization, an umbrella for civic and rights groups.

Authorities have grappled with informal mining for years

Illegal mining is common in parts of gold-rich South Africa where companies close down mines that are no longer profitable, leaving groups of informal miners to enter them illegally in a search for leftover deposits.

Large groups of miners often go underground for months to maximize their profits, taking food, water, generators and other equipment with them, but also relying on others in their group on the surface to send down more supplies.

Mineral Resources Minister Gwede Mantashe visited the site Tuesday and said that more than 1,500 miners who resurfaced from the Buffelsfontein mine have been arrested since authorities began a larger crackdown on illegal mining in late 2023. He said the vast majority were foreign nationals from neighboring countries.

Police have also doubled down on their assertion that the miners who are still underground aren’t coming out because they are afraid of being arrested.

Activists said the only way out is for miners to make a dangerous trek to another shaft, which can take days, and crawl out there, but many are too weak or ill to climb out. The mine is 2.5 kilometers (1.5 miles) deep with multiple shafts, many levels and a maze of tunnels. The group representing the miners said there are numerous groups in various parts of the mine.

“The last time I spoke to my brother was in July, when he told us that he is going underground,” said Zinzi Tom, a sister of one of the miners who remained underground. “We had not heard anything from him, but yesterday one of the miners who surfaced said he saw him about two weeks ago. Apparently he is very sick and he is struggling to survive.”

Cellphone videos emerge from underground

The Mining Affected Communities United in Action group, which took authorities to court in December to force them to allow supplies to be sent down to the miners, released two cellphone videos that they said were from underground and showed dozens of dead bodies of miners wrapped in plastic. A spokesman for the group said “a minimum” of 100 miners had died.

The cellphone videos purportedly from the depths of the mine are filmed by a man who can be heard saying, “This is hunger. People are dying because of hunger,” as he records emaciated-looking men sitting on the damp floor of the mine. He adds: “Please help us. Bring us food or take us out.”

The rescue operation will go on for 10 days and authorities would then reassess, Police Minister Senzo Mchunu said. Police also said that the survivors who had been brought to the surface will be arrested and charged with illegal mining and trespassing after receiving medical attention.

Authorities made clear their approach when South African Cabinet Minister Khumbudzo Ntshavheni told reporters in November that the government would not help the miners, who they consider criminals.

“We are not sending help to criminals,” she said. “We are going to smoke them out. They will come out.”

She added: “Criminals are not to be helped. Criminals are to be persecuted.”

Long stretch of Laguna Beach closed after 465,000-gallon sewage spill

0

The coastal waters off Laguna Beach between Treasure Island and Table Rock at Aliso Beach have been closed due to a sewage spill, Orange County health authorities confirmed Tuesday evening.

Roughly 465,000 gallons of sewage spilled due to a break in a main sewer line near Laguna Niguel Regional Park, the Orange County Health Care Agency and the Environmental Health Services said. An undetermined portion of that sewage seeped into nearby beaches.

Although the sewer line breach has since been patched, area beaches remained closed to activities that include swimming, surfing and diving. The waters will remain closed until conditions improve, according to Orange County officials.

“I urge OC residents, visitors, and tourists to heed public health experts’ warnings and avoid the closed beaches in Laguna while the @ochealth tests water quality,” Orange County Supervisor Katrina Foley posted on X.

The spill is the second to hit the county in as many months.

In December, the coastal area around Salt Creek in Dana Point was closed after 3,375 gallons of sewage spilled into the sea.

Then, too, a sewage line break was the culprit.

How to record audio in iOS 18, how to create transcripts

0

Notes can record audio and provide transcriptions, starting with iOS and iPadOS 18.

The Notes app in iOS 18 and iPadOS 18 makes it easy to add an audio recording to a note, and create a written transcription of it if desired. Here’s how to do it.

It has long been possible to add an audio recording to a note created in the Notes app, but in earlier iOS versions it was a little more cumbersome. Users would open the Voice Memos app, record the audio, and then attach that recording to a new note in the Notes app.

As of iOS 18, that functionality is directly available in Notes — though it is still somewhat hidden until you know how to find it. The big change compared to the previous Voice Memos app is that Notes can now also provide a written transcript of what was said, if you are using an iPhone 12 or later.

It is important to note that the audio transcription feature is available only for various versions of English. This includes US and UK versions, along with Australian, Irish, New Zealand, and South African.

This new feature will be a godsend to students, board members, employees, and the secretaries of organizations everywhere.

Being able to quickly and easily reference a written version of what was said in a meeting or classroom will help users retain the information better. They will also be able to summarize key points, and separate action items from other information.

Having the original audio to review is also useful. As with audiobooks, re-listening to a speech or lecture can add the speaker’s tone, passion, and context to their words, making it come alive in a way that a straight transcript cannot.

While not always 100 percent accurate, the transcript feature will make your notes more valuable to you, and more shareable with others. On devices capable of running Apple Intelligence, the summarizing feature within it can create the summary itself if the user desires.

Recording inside the Notes app

When you first open a new note in Notes, you’ll see a plus button on the lower right side of the note, just above the on-screen keyboard. Tapping it will pop up a set of tools to use in your note.

These include font controls, bullet lists, table tools, an attachment button, drawing tools and, if available, an Apple Intelligence button.

  • Tap on the attachment button.
  • A menu of options comes up, including “Record Audio.”
  • Tapping that will cause a “New Recording” screen to appear, just as it does in the Voice Memos app — which is still available as a separate app.
  • To start a recording, press the red button at the bottom of the screen, and check that the iPhone’s mic is picking up your voice.
Three iPhone screens display a Doctor Who themed audio panel with waveform, transcription, and playback options.
Three iPhone screens show audio editing with waveforms, playback controls, and a transcript. The last screen displays a saved note with text from the audio.

You can pause the recording to collect your thoughts and then resume, or just record an entire meeting, lecture, or panel directly.

  • Press the record button again to stop the recording.
  • To the left of the record button is a “word bubble” button with quote marks in it.
  • Tapping that button will provide a real-time transcript of the audio.

Adding and viewing the transcript, and more

You can also wait until the recording is done, and tap the Done button to the right of the record button to generate a transcript. The full transcript will then appear in a new window, with an audio block in gray and the first couple of lines of the transcript along with a “play” button.

To add the recording to your note:

  • Look for the “three dots” icon at the top right, and tap it.
  • Tap “Add Transcript to Note.”
  • You can then edit the transcript to correct any errors.

You also have another option in that same menu to copy the transcript, which allows you to paste it directly into another program — such as a word processing app, a blog post, or other options.

You can also record and transcribe audio on any iPad model that supports iPadOS 18 or later. Audio transcription from the Notes app is also available on any Mac with an M1 processor or later, and running macOS Sequoia or later.

If it is available on your Mac, you can also use Apple Intelligence tools to summarize the transcript, proofread it, or rewrite portions in a different style.

An iPad displaying a note-taking app with a summary about Mughal and Rajasthani architectural features on the screen.
With Apple Intelligence, you can summarize a transcription directly in Notes.

Apple Intelligence is currently available on the iPhone 15 Pro or Pro Max, or the iPhone 16 models. It’s also available on iPads using the A17 Pro or M1 or later chips running iOS 18 or later, and Macs running macOS Sequoia 15.1 or later, and using an M1 chip or better.

Nate Diaz blames Islam Makhachev and his clout-chasing gang of ‘ewalks’ for UFC water wars – ‘Just there to corner my boy’

0

Welcome to Midnight Mania!

Just over a month ago, there was a minor altercation between Team Diaz and Team Nurmagomedov during the UFC 310 Fight Week. As has been known to happen around the Diaz brothers, water bottles were soon flying through the air. Chucking water bottles is a known tactic among that crew, but thankfully, the situation did not escalate further.

Islam Makhachev addressed the situation about a week ago. Per the UFC Lightweight kingpin, there’s no substantial beef between he and Diaz, who is actually a pretty respectful guy when the cameras aren’t around. He even claims that they had a cordial interaction in an elevator at the Wynn Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Diaz doesn’t share that recollection. He denies the elevator meet up ever occurred, and he is adamant that Team Nurmagomedov threw the first water bottle back at the UFC 311 presser. Furthermore, Diaz labels the opposing crew clout-chasing “ewalks,” accompanied by a picture of Ewoks from Return of the Jedi.

“WTH goin on I didn’t even know Islam was there,” Diaz wrote in response on social media. “I don’t even know wich one he is I was just there to corner my boy and these ewalks thru a bottle at me looking for clout wtf did I do lol And I never saw this guy in an elevator wtf i thought religious people didn’t lie wtf is happening? And wtf happened to champ all you had to do was say yes champ I gotta go.”

The beef between the Nurmagomedov and Diaz fight camps goes back all the way to 2015, and it doesn’t seem likely to end now. More to the point, however, is the simple fact that Makhachev and team mate Umar Nurmagomedov are fighting for world titles atop the first pay-per-view (PPV) event of the year, whereas the top Diaz camp representative in the Octagon currently is … Kron Gracie?

I don’t think the Dagestan crew is losing sleep over this “rivalry.”

Are They Happening Because of AI? – Hollywood Life

Meta employees are currently at risk of layoffs. Find out what is going on behind the scenes at the company below!

What Did Mark Zuckerberg Change at Meta?

CEO Mark Zuckerberg is putting an end to Meta’s “fact-checking” program in favor of “community notes.” Instead of non-partisan professionals fact-checking misinformation online, users now must agree on how to rate content. The company has also put an immediate end to its diversity, equity and inclusion programs.

Are Layoffs Happening at Meta?

In January 2025, Meta employees were sent an internal memo about the company’s “plans to lay off up to 5 percent of its employees. In the email, Mark wrote, “I’ve decided to raise the bar on performance management and move out low-performers faster. We typically manage out people who aren’t meeting expectations over the course of a year, but now we’re going to do more extensive performance-based cuts during this cycle,” according to The New York Times, who obtained the statement.

The letter continues to state that new hires will be replacing the old ones this year. The email explained that the reasoning behind the upcoming layoffs would be to make sure that Mark had the “strongest talent,” and the opportunity to give new employees a shot. He also noted that the workers who will be laid off, will get “generous” severance packages. According to Bloomberg, in September the company employed about 72,000 people. 5 percent of that amount would be 3,600 people, whose jobs are on the line.

Why Has Meta Experienced Several Outages?

In December 2024, Meta experienced several outages across Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp, according to CNBC. Meta took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to address the issues and the company wrote: “[We] are aware that a technical issue is impacting some users’ ability to access our apps. We’re working to get things back to normal as quickly as possible and apologize for any inconvenience.”

In March 2024, Meta’s apps also had a two-hour outage, which affected countless users.

The ‘most beautiful’ sandy beach in Africa with turquoise waters that’s 25C in February | Travel News | Travel

0

With the weather turning for the worse, many people will be looking to escape the cold, rainy weather, and where better to do that than one of the best beaches in the world?

Anse Source D’Argent in Seychelles has been awarded multiple accolades. Lonely Planet rated it the best beach, and it is one of the most photographed places on the planet.

It is easy to see why, as the lush beach boasts pristine sands, turquoise, and iconic granite boulders.

Anse Source d’Argent’s breathtaking beauty is categorised by its dazzling white sands and shallow, crystal-clear waters, creating a mesmerising contrast against the towering granite formations and lush greenery that surround it.

The beach is often hailed as a “photographer’s paradise”. Whether strolling along the shore or lounging beneath the shade of swaying coconut palms, it offers the perfect backdrop for both relaxation and adventure.

Accessing this serene stretch of shoreline requires a quick journey through the historic L’Union Estate coconut plantation, where visitors pay an entrance fee of Rs150 (£8.20), valid for a full day.

Although the beach is popular with tourists, arriving early in the morning or later in the afternoon ensures a more tranquil experience.

During these quieter hours, the beach feels like a private haven, allowing visitors to escape the crowds and bask in the solitude of this idyllic paradise.

For those wishing to make the most of their time, there are plenty of activities to enjoy.

Kayaks, including transparent ones that allow you to view the vibrant marine life beneath, are available for rent.

The shallow waters and protected coral reefs, which provide a safe and stunning environment for both children and adults, will delight snorkelling enthusiasts.

However, the water can be quite shallow at low tide, making swimming unsuitable.

TripAdvisor reviewers are unanimous in their praise of Anse Source d’Argent.

One TripAdvisor reviewer said: “One of the most stunning beaches in the world that I have come across. Stretches more than a kilometre long and is dotted with rock formations and pristine white sand. Lined on the other side with lush greenery, the overhang of trees provides ample shade and respite from the sun when you need it.

“You have a host of activities like glass bottom boats, kayaks, Snorkelling trips etc. Plan to spend a good half day here if you are a beach bum.”

Another said: “Our final days of our Seychelles honeymoon trip were on the island of La Digue. Anse Source d’Argent lives up to its reputation as one of the world’s most photographed and majestic beaches. The giant granite boulders and turquoise water left us stunned.”

A third advised that it can get busy in the afternoons. “Our advice: arrive early or late to miss the hoards. In fact, being there at sunrise or sunset makes for a magical experience. Highly recommended!”

Temperatures in the Seychelles usually range between 25C and 30C in January and February.

Flights to Seychelles International Airport from London start at £600, and it takes approximately 14 hours to arrive in the sunny archipelago.

Getting to Anse Source D’Argent will require another further three-hour ferry from Mahé where the airport is located.

‘Santosh’ Gets 100% Rotten Tomatoes Score & Good Oscar Odds

0

Earning a 100% score on Rotten Tomatoes is a feat few filmmakers have achieved. Indeed, many of the most acclaimed films of all time have nevertheless failed to impress at least one certified critic on the website. Therefore, in the rare event that a film does earn a perfect score, it is worth exploring how it managed to win over every critic on Rotten Tomatoes that saw it. One such film is Santosh (2024), a new thriller directed by Sandhya Suri. The film, which centers on a widowed woman who takes her late husband’s place on the local police force, is the U.K.’s submission for Best International Feature at the upcoming Academy Awards. So far, all 39 critics on Rotten Tomatoes are pretty much unanimous in their praise of both the film’s technical elements and its uncompromising themes of sexism, police corruption, and caste discrimination in India.

‘Santosh’ Is a Gritty and Bleak Police Drama

The film’s eponymous protagonist (played by Shahana Goswami) is a widow who replaces her husband on the police force after he is killed on the job. Santosh’s first assignment is to investigate the murder of a young girl in a rural village, and she is paired with a more senior and less idealistic female officer (Sunita Rajwar) on the case. However, Santosh soon finds out that her ability to serve justice for her community is severely limited by the systemic corruption and misogyny in the police department, which regularly engages in intimidation, lying, and even torture of suspects.

The 20 Best International Police Procedurals of All Time

There’s something here for everyone on this list of police dramas, whether you’re sticking to English-language or moving farther afield.

The pairing of a cynical, morally compromised mentor with a young, upstanding rookie reminds Time Out‘s Philip De Semylen of another Oscar-winning thriller, describing Santosh as “Training Day with more grey areas.” But, as his comparison implies, what sets Santosh apart from Training Day is that the former does not completely let its protagonist off the hook for the police department’s misdeeds, despite her noble intentions.

The fact that Santosh is a woman only makes her complicity in a system that marginalizes women and fails to protect them from violence all the more heartbreaking. As The Indian Express bluntly states, “In contrast to the majority of male-driven mainstream films about cops, Santosh isn’t in awe of its protagonist. It is, first and foremost, a character study about a grieving woman trapped in institutions designed to suffocate her, and everybody else.” Sarah Vincent summarizes the film’s central message even more succinctly: “Power perpetuates itself even when the person who possesses it changes.”

‘Santosh’ Looks and Feels Like a Documentary

Dhruv Goyal of In Review Online suggests that Suri’s background in documentary filmmaking informs Santosh‘s drearily mundane aesthetic: “This solemn passivity — shot cinema verité-style, unaided by any non-diegetic background score or declarative performance tics — is bound to be a sticking point for those who associate Indian cinema solely with a certain kind of testosterone-fueled, heightened dramaticism.” The film’s realistically drab, sweaty cinematography has an almost suffocating effect on the audience, reminding them that corruption and inequality are overwhelmingly pervasive in India (and beyond) and cannot be overcome as long as the status quo remains in place.

Related

‘Santosh’ Review: U.K.’s Oscar Entry Intricately Explores Morality in India’s Badlands

Writer-director Sandhya Suri’s gripping new feature raises plenty of social questions as a newbie female cop investigates a gruesome murder.

The documentary-like vibe of the film is further reinforced by the subdued performances by the cast. Several critics note that, aside from an intensely emotional scene near the beginning of the film, Goswami’s performance consists mostly of subtle facial expressions (particularly in her eyes) to convey Santosh’s inner frustration and weariness, which more closely resembles the behavior of real people. Goyal of In Review Online describes her performance as “filled with a valuable form of hauntingly probing uncertainty,” distinct from the “loud and clear performativity” of many Bollywood films.

Regarding the rest of the cast, they are mainly played by non-actors (almost like subjects of a documentary), giving the film an even greater degree of verisimilitude and geographical specificity. There’s a naturalness to these performances that feels like a kind of world-building, making this town feel like a real, lived-in place.

Will ‘Santosh’ Win the Academy Award for Best International Feature Film?

It remains to be seen whether the unanimous praise of critics on Rotten Tomatoes will translate to an Oscar nomination and win for Santosh. 2024 was a particularly great year for international films, and it might be hard to compete with the other 14 films that are shortlisted for the Academy Award for Best International Feature Film. From Ground Zero, Vermiglio, I’m Still Here, The Seed of the Sacred Fig, The Girl with the Needle, Universal Language, Flow, and Kneecap are all phenomenal movies (and Emilia Pérez recently gained momentum with some Golden Globe wins).

Nonetheless, the fact that Santosh achieved a rare 100% score should make it worth checking out regardless of Oscar gold. If that’s not enough, then the fact that so many critics, both inside and outside of India, all agree that Santosh is an honest and empathetic portrayal of the struggles many Indian women face on a day-to-day basis proves that this is an issue which deserves more global attention.

From Metrograph Pictures, Santosh is now playing in select theaters. It comes to Metrograph Pictures on Jan. 18, 2025; find information here.

“With All Due Respect To Jim”

0

Mayim Bialik counters Jim Parsons’ comments about the possibility of a The Big Bang Theory reboot. It has been more than 5 years since The Big Bang Theory ended with a two-part special that saw Sheldon and Amy winning the Nobel Prize in Physics. Despite being an ensemble show, the CBS sitcom shifted its focus towards the fan-favorite couple towards the end of the project for an uneven final year. Chuck Lorre and his team were still able to stage a largely satisfying send-off to the Pasadena gang, but considering its continued popularity, questions about the revival persist.

When asked about the matter, Bialik has a markedly different stance on doing The Big Bang Theory than Parsons in a new interview with Yahoo! Entertainment. The Sheldon actor shut down the possibility when asked about it, although he admitted that life is long and anything can still happen. All he knows is that, for now, he is not open to the idea. Bialik, however, acknowledges the continued interest in the Pasadena gang and is more than happy to jump back into the shoes of Amy. Read her full quote below:

“With all due respect to Jim, I think that there’s a lot of interest and love for these characters and I’d be super happy to get to revisit [it] in any way. I think we all really have a lot of respect for the brand as it were and for what we were able to create. I was thrilled to get to still work with Jim and do some stuff on Young Sheldon. But for me, I understand the specialness and would love the opportunity to revisit Amy if it ever came up.”

What No Sheldon Would Mean For A Big Bang Theory Reboot

Sheldon Was Its True Main Character

Like Young Sheldon‘s cancellation, The Big Bang Theory ended not because there was a lack of interest in it. The nerd-centric sitcom wrapped up because Parsons decided to leave the show after season 12. Technically, the rest of the cast could still have continued the series, since the majority of them were open to staying. That said, they eventually realized that The Big Bang Theory needed Sheldon, so they decided to bow out as a complete cast.

Even if the other cast members wanted to do the revival, not having Sheldon would likely cause the plan to collapse.

Those who want to participate can stage a The Big Bang Theory reboot, but it will not be nearly as satisfying without Sheldon. As annoying as he was, he was the glue that kept the core characters together. On the rare occasions that he wasn’t at the center of its storytelling, he always managed to steal scenes with his antics. Part of it was due to the character’s writing and the rest was because of Parsons’ performance. Therefore, even if the other cast members wanted to do the revival, not having Sheldon would likely cause the plan to collapse.

Our Take On A Big Bang Theory Reboot In 2025

It Is Unlikely To Happen This Year

Somehow, time flew, and half a decade has passed since the Pasadena gang said goodbye. Despite that, The Big Bang Theory‘s popularity remains, thanks to its availability via streaming platforms, not to mention through constant reruns on TV. In terms of the timeline, CBS can certainly already develop either a reboot or revival of the show. There have been other shows that came back quicker than that, and they ended up being a success, such as Criminal Minds. The Big Bang Theory was more popular during its original broadcast, so it also has a good chance of recapturing its audience.

After concluding in 2020, Criminal Minds returned on Paramount+ in 2022 with a rivival known as Criminal Minds: Evolution.

Realistically, however, the chances of that happening in 2025 or even the next couple of years are very slim. For starters, Lorre is busy with Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage, which is essentially Young Sheldon‘s sequel. Aside from that, he is also working on Stuart’s Big Bang Theory spinoff. No release date has been set, but the project has been in development for quite a while now, which means that it can easily start production in the coming months. Because of this, seeing the original characters reunite may take a little while longer.

When Might A The Big Bang Theory Reboot Happen?

It Probably Won’t Be For A Few Years

Johnny Galecki as Leonard, Melissa Rauch as Bernadette, Jim Parsons as Sheldon, Kunal Nayyar as Raj, Kaley Cuoco as Penny, Mayim Bialik as Amy, and Simon Helberg as Howard all toast with champagne around a table in The Big Bang Theory

While Parsons is not interested in the idea of reprising Sheldon now, he also knows that he cannot say for sure that he will never be involved in a Big Bang Theory reboot. Several members from the cast have expressed their enthusiasm for the idea of stepping back into that famed world, especially if people still want to see them and there’s a good story to tell. That said, it’s also worth noting that everyone from The Big Bang Theory cast are busy with their respective projects, which makes it tricky to coordinate their schedules for the proposed endeavor.

Taking all moving pieces into consideration, a Big Bang Theory reboot will likely not happen for a few more years. Even then, it might not even be a full-blown revival of the show. Instead, it could be a limited run, which has its cons. The biggest downside is that it won’t be long, but it has a higher chance of featuring the complete original cast, including Parsons. If that is still difficult to pull off, CBS can look at what Max did for the Friends reunion in 2021 and stage something similar for a one-time special.

LeBron James listed as questionable ahead of Lakers vs. Grizzlies

The Lakers have upgraded LeBron James ahead of Sunday’s game with Memphis, giving clarity to his absence from the team this past week.

James, who has been listed as questionable with “left foot injury management,” missed the Lakers’ last two games and wasn’t with the team.

The Lakers called the excused absence “personal reasons,” leading to speculation about the nature and duration of the absence.

However, because the Lakers didn’t advance in the NBA Cup, the schedule provided them with a gap where James could get extended rest without missing extensive game time.

James, 39, first appeared on the Lakers’ injury report following their blowout loss in Miami on Dec. 4. James played the next game before sitting out last Sunday’s win against Portland.

If he returns Sunday, James will have missed two games and gotten eight days of rest.

In 23 games this season, James has averaged 23 points, 8.0 rebounds and 9.1 assists.

The Lakers are 13-12 and have lost eight of their last 11 games. Following Sunday’s game, the Lakers are off until Thursday when they play in Sacramento.
