Trump Tried To Hold A Press Conference And It Was A Total Disaster

0

The Daily is now ad-free and easier to read than ever. We are independent of the corporations and billionaires but require your support to bring you what corporate media is afraid to say, so please subscribe.

America got to see the reason why Trump hasn’t been all over media like he was after the 2016 election, and it is because the person that is being sent back to the White House doesn’t seem very functional.

This is a snippet from Trump’s attempt at a press conference:

The outgoing administration and they’re trying everything they can to make it more difficult. Inflation is continuing to rage and interest rates are far too high. And I’ve been disappointed to see the Biden administration’s attempt to block the reforms of the American people and that they voted for.

They just, we had a landslide election. We won every swing state. We won the popular vote by millions and millions of people. Nobody even knows how many people, millions. And, uh, they’re still counting in some areas. You know, there’s still counting the vote in some areas. Can you believe this? What? What a place.

What a horrible place. One of the things we’re gonna do is we’ve got to fix the election so that we get honest counts and they get done by 10 o’clock in the evening or something thereabouts. They have places where they’re still counting votes. Uh, President Biden’s actions yesterday on offshore drilling, banning offshore drilling.

Uh, will not stand. I will reverse it immediately. It will be done immediately, and we will drill baby drill. We’re going to be drilling in a lot of other locations, and the energy costs are going to come way down. They’ll be brought down to a very low level, and that’s going to bring everything else down.

That’s what caused it to go up, along with, uh, the ridiculous spending on the Green New Scam. All this money, trillions of dollars. It’s like throwing it right out the window, what they’re doing. And they’re trying to spend so much now, they’re just taking money and giving it to anybody that wants it for any project at all if it’s, if it’s certified under the Green New Scam.

And they don’t work. And it’s too expensive. And uh, you know, they told me that, uh, we’re gonna do everything possible to make this transition to the new administration very smooth. It’s not smooth because they’re doing that. They’re playing with the courts, as you know, they’ve been playing with the courts for four years, probably got me more votes because I got the highest.

It’s the most number of votes ever gotten by a Republican by far, actually, by, by a lot. And, uh, you know, we had a great election, so I guess it didn’t work. But they’re, even to this day, they’re playing with the courts, they have their friendly judges that like to try and make everybody happy on the Democrats’ side.

Video:

Seeing even a brief clip of Trump makes it even more laughable that the corporate media thought that putting this shell of a Trump back in the White House would boost their viewership and profits.

Outgoing Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau Finally Responds to Trump’s ‘Vow’ to Make Canada the 51st State – Gets Roasted on X | The Gateway Pundit

0

The worst leader in Canada’s history has now stepped up to the plate to take on President Trump regarding the critical issue of The Great White North’s entry into the United States. Unsurprisingly, his response went horribly wrong in a hurry.

As The Gateway Pundit’s Jordan Conradson reported, soon-to-be former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced his resignation as leader of his Liberal Party Monday morning during a news conference. He will remain Liberal leader and prime minster until his replacement is chosen in March.

This came following Trump’s vow last month to impose a 25% tariff on all products from Canada and Mexico in response to the “illegal alien invasion and ‘promising’ to ‘annex’ Canada as the 51st state. While Trudeau traveled to Mar-a-Lago to bend the knee to Trump on tariffs, he had noticeably remained silent on whether Canada should become another star on the American flag.

Until now.

Trudeau finally responded to Trump’s on the subject Tuesday and it was as pathetic as one would expect. Why he decided to wait until a day after announcing he was quitting or reply at all is a mystery.

“There isn’t a snowball’s chance in hell that Canada would become part of the United States,” Trudeau wrote on X.

“Workers and communities in both our countries benefit from being each other’s biggest trading and security partner,” he added.

Unsurprisingly, X users responded by savagely roasting the Trudeau.

Donald Trump’s ‘all hell will break loose’ Gaza warning risks becoming less threatening | World News

0

Donald Trump’s threat that “all hell will break loose” if the Gaza hostages aren’t released by his inauguration is, by my calculation, the third time he’s used similar language since winning November’s US presidential election.

It’s also a phrase that has been used in different contexts, notably in June 2024 as part of a fundraising text to supporters ahead of one of his court trials and by aides and spokespeople during the campaign trail.

It’s typically dramatic of him and plays to his reputation of being unpredictable, a trait that can be quite effective here in the Middle East.

Trump demands greater NATO defence spending – latest

But Trump has given no indication what he has in mind if his threat doesn’t work, and it’s hard to see what his options are.

The situation in Gaza is already truly dire for Palestinians living there.

There are some in Israeli political circles who have suggested withholding aid deliveries to starve Hamas into surrender, but it is hard to imagine the US president tacitly allowing that, with all the international legal consequences that would have.

Trump’s threats might be directed at Iran’s leadership, but it’s questionable how much real influence they still have over a severely depleted Hamas in Gaza and Trump, who dislikes wars, is unlikely to strike Tehran and risk plunging US forces into a new Middle East conflict within weeks of taking office.

Further sanctions on Iran are unlikely to yield quick results either – the Islamic Republic’s leaders have proven quite resilient to that over the years.

Taking action against Qatar, which does have a direct line to Hamas, could backfire as the largest US airbase in the Middle East is just outside Doha and the small state is an important security and economic partner.

Truth is, “all hell will break loose” is a phrase commonly used by Trump, in different scenarios, to scare opponents.

The more he uses it, without results, the less effective and threatening it becomes, and the bottom line is that if it doesn’t work with Hamas then Trump will find he has few options beyond painstaking negotiation and diplomacy which actually might, slowly, be starting to yield results.

A developing storm is expected to bring more wintry weather across the country, threatening the normally warm areas of New Mexico, Texas and other areas in the South with snow and freezing rain starting Wednesday.

Meanwhile, strong winds walloping the West Coast are posing serious fire risks in southern California, with some communities placed under mandatory evacuation notice.

Residents living in the Dallas-Fort Worth area could see 3 to 6 inches of snow by Thursday, according to the National Weather Service. For that metro, which received just 1.5 inches of snow from 2023-2024, it’s being considered a major storm. Further south, the NWS said, light snow, ice and sleet is possible, likely creating dangerous road conditions and impacting travel and schools.

This all comes after a deadly winter storm brought snow and ice from the Midwest to the mid-Atlantic and freezing temps lingered in the South over the weekend. As of Monday, at least four people died and dozens were injured as the storm moved across several states, including Kansas, Illinois, Virginia and the Washington, D.C., area, stranding cars and knocking out power.

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott on Monday directed the Texas Division of Emergency Management to activate state emergency response resources ahead of the storm.

“With below-freezing temperatures beginning to impact large portions of the state, Texas is increasing the readiness level of the State Operations Center to ensure resources are swiftly deployed to communities,” Abbott said in a statement Tuesday.

He urged residents to “remain weather-aware, regularly monitor road conditions before traveling, and heed guidance from state and local officials.”

Dallas and Fort Worth have activated temporary winter shelters for homeless residents, city officials said Tuesday.

The system forecast to hit Texas may bring several inches of snow to southeastern Oklahoma and western and central Arkansas Thursday into Friday, the NWS said. These forecasts are still early and the NWS cautions that the extent of the storm and possible snowfall could still change.

Strong Santa Ana winds threaten Southern California

As the South prepped for snow and more cold, some residents in Southern California fled their homes as the NWS said “life-threatening” Santa Ana winds slammed the area and fueled wildfires.

By Tuesday afternoon, winds reached 20-50 mph, but hurricane-force gusts are predicted later to reach 100 mph or more. Strong winds combined with low humidity and dry fuels (of which California has plenty after months of abnormally dry weather) contribute to dangerous conditions and increase risks for wildfires.

Officials in Los Angeles warned that residents living along the path of the Palisades Fire should prepare to evacuate as the fire moved quickly through hills surrounding the area due to the strong winds. Mandatory evacuation orders are in place for people living near Topanga Beach in Los Angeles County.

Pacific Palisades residents face traffic gridlock, uncertainty as fire nears

0

Thousands of Pacific Palisades residents were urged to evacuate Tuesday as fire exploded amid intense winds.

The current honorary mayor of the celebrity-studded Los Angeles neighborhood, actor Eugene Levy, was fleeing along with other residents. And like many others, the “Schitt’s Creek” actor was stuck in traffic.

“The smoke looked pretty black and intense over Temescal Canyon,” Levy told The Times. “I couldn’t see any flames, but the smoke was very dark.”

The fire was sparked around 10:30 a.m. and quickly grew, threatening many upscale homes to the west.

Residents fleeing down Sunset Boulevard gathered along the Pacific Coast Highway, many calling family members still trapped in traffic; others cried as they finally reunited.

Cavalry Christian School students and teachers posted in the Sunset Beach parking lot, waiting to connect with students and family members. But the smoke quickly moved toward the shore. By noon, ash was dropping from the sky along the coastline.

“I figured it was safer at the beach, but now I’m not so sure,” said Daryl Goldsmith. “The wind is virulent and I just hope things don’t burn down. … The poor fire department couldn’t get up there.”

Goldsmith was at her Palisades home with friends when she spotted the fire. It quickly exploded, she said.

As she rushed to evacuate, her husband stayed behind to help a disabled neighbor escape. Firefighters began directing traffic, but Goldsmith decided to ditch her car in the grass and walk down to the shore.

As she waited at Sunset Beach, her husband was still stuck up the hill.

Residents said when officials first issued evacuation orders, the fire quickly jumped from five miles up Palisades Drive to just half a mile, near Calvary Christian School.

Although evacuees were at first using all lanes of Palisades Drive to escape, fire crews halted cars on the road to fight the new spot down along the evacuation route, said Erin Sheehy, whose husband was stuck in the traffic. Some residents got out of their cars and began walking miles down to the coast.

Evacuees were now waiting for word about their homes.

“It looks grim,” Magnolia Shin said around noon Tuesday, about an hour after she left her house on Piedra Morada Drive. Shin said that she could feel the heat from the flames before she left, which were within 50 yards of her home. She didn’t have time to try to save anything from her home before evacuating.

“I couldn’t even get my rabbit.” she said. “I just left. I just took my purse and drove away.”

iPad 11, iPad Air, iPhone SE 4 to launch ‘by April’ not January

0

iPhone SE 4 could resemble the iPhone 14 with a single rear camera

Rumors spread on Tuesday that Apple would release the new iPhone SE and iPads alongside iOS 18.3 later in January, but they have been quickly dismissed by a more reliable source.

Apple is expected to have a packed early 2025 lineup spread from now until WWDC, however, recent rumors have assumed an even faster timeline for some products. That has all been put to bed thanks to an insight from a reliable source making better sense of the available data.

According to a post from Mark Gurman, Apple is indeed developing the iPhone SE 4 and new iPads with iOS 18.3 in mind for the launch. However, he states that Apple would release these products “by April if all goes to plan.”

Apple will allegedly release the new hardware ahead of iOS 18.4, which is due before WWDC in June. The post arrived after a private social media account suggested that Apple would release the new hardware alongside the iOS 18.3 update.

This April timeline lines up with previous rumors that place the iPhone SE 4, iPad Air with M4, and iPad 11 after a MacBook Air update earlier in 2025. That still leaves room for a potential new product reveal in May or during WWDC for the square display Home Hub device, though some believe that’s been pushed back to the fall.

The iPad 11 is expected to be a straightforward update that brings Apple Intelligence to the tablet thanks to the A18 processor. If Apple does update the iPad Air, it will be with M4, which would portend the arrival of the M5 equipped iPad Pro rumored for the fall.

January doesn’t work anyway

Apple can release a product whenever it wants, but it does tend to follow a pattern, especially with iPhones. Flagship models tend to launch in the fall, and iPhone SE has always launched in the spring.

There are two driving forces behind Apple’s product release cycles — supply chain and demand.

The holiday quarter is Apple’s most intense for maintaining supply chain inventory while also being Apple’s most lucrative in iPhone sales. The iPhone SE didn’t launch in the fall to ensure customers would purchase more expensive flagship models, but it also can’t launch in January because everyone in the market for a new device already got one over the holidays.

The supply chain would also struggle with an iPhone SE 4 launch in January due to simple part demand. The A18 processor destined for the iPhone SE 4 that enables Apple Intelligence is also used in the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus. So, the supply chain inventory for that chip was likely fully utilized through winter.

An April launch of iPhone SE would line up with previous releases, enable the supply chain to catch up with chip demand, and coincide with customers that upgrade in the spring. Also, there’s a non-zero chance iPhone SE 4 could be Apple’s first carbon neutral iPhone, which would be great for Earth Day.

So far, the iOS 18.3 betas appear to be bug fixes and other minor updates preparing the way for the new hardware and future Apple Intelligence features. It is expected to release sometime in January or early February.

Longtime UFC vet Tony Ferguson ‘in talks’ with GFL ahead of promotion’s April 4 debut

0

Former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) interim lightweight champion, Tony Ferguson, recently told his social media followers that fight news was “coming soon,” but it sounds like “El Cucuy” was not referring to a potential Octagon comeback.

Ferguson is reportedly “in talks” with Global Fight League (GFL).

“I’ve heard a couple of names tossed around, the one that interests me the most is Tony Ferguson,” longtime rival and former UFC lightweight, Kevin Lee, told Ariel Helwani. “He’s had his ups and downs in his career but we’ve had a great fight for the UFC championship and I think that’s something that a lot of people can get behind and that’s a fight that I really, really want. He’s in talks with them.”

Ferguson defeated Lee by triangle choke at UFC 216 to win the substitute strap.

Ferguson, who turns 41 in just a few weeks, dropped his eighth straight loss by getting strangled into submission by Michael Chiesa as part of the UFC Abu Dhabi fight card last August. Despite repeated calls for his retirement — and the surrendering of one glove — it appears “El Cucuy” is not ready to walk away from MMA just yet.

GFL will stage its first event on April 4, according to Lee.

What’s Changing on Facebook? – Hollywood Life

It seems as though there are always new tech updates to learn about. Meta’s fact-checking update raises many questions pertaining to the topics of misinformation and non-partisanship. Find out how social media content will be affected below!

How Did Meta’s Fact Checking Work?

Meta’s fact-checking program came out in 2016 with the intention of decreasing misinformation online. It came as a result of the heat that Facebook underwent from its users for spreading fake news during the pivotal U.S. presidential election of the same year. Meta’s Transparency Center explained that through the program, non-partisan and third parties that were certified by the International Fact-Checking Network (IFCN), consistently checked the accuracy of online content. During the company’s focused review, the content would get a rating of “False, Altered, Partly false, Missing context, Satire and True.” By 2023 the fact checking system “expanded to include nearly 100 organizations working in more than 60 languages globally,” according to a statement by Meta.

What Is the Meta Fact Checking Update?

On Tuesday, January 7, 2025 Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg shared a video announcement on Meta’s official website that the newest update would put an end to Meta’s fact-checking system. Instead of its fact-checkers program, there will now be “Community Notes.” Mark personally took a page out of Elon Musk‘s book when it comes to how to regulate social media. The CEO compared his new approach to Elon’s version of it on X.

Why Did Meta Make the Update?

Mark’s reasoning behind the 180-degree move was the 2024 U.S. presidential election. Mark explained his beliefs in the video: “The recent elections also feel like a cultural tipping point towards once again prioritizing speech. After Trump first got elected in 2016, the legacy media wrote nonstop about how misinformation was a threat to democracy. We tried in good faith to address those concerns without becoming the arbiters of truth. But the fact-checkers have just been too politically biased and have destroyed more trust than they’ve created, especially in the U.S.”

How Is Facebook and Instagram Going to Change?

Both platforms will now allow more content to be spread online pertaining to hot-button issues that include gender and immigration. The new setup will invite users to join in on the conversation as contributors and they will themselves rate content, request more information and call out misleading posts. In an attempt to prevent biased views, users with diverse perspectives have to agree on their rating.

Anger Has Been Expressed After Reports That Shakira Cut In Front Of A Huge Line While Carrying Her Children

According to reports, Shakira infuriated other parents when she and her children cut through a line that had been waiting for almost 90 minutes to enter a Halloween attraction.

The Hips Don’t Lie singer, who is 45 years old, allegedly skipped ahead of other families waiting in line for more than an hour to get on the Tower of Terror rollercoaster in Barcelona, according to several news agencies in Spain that made their claims over the weekend.

According to a local journalist who spoke with Socialité, Shakira and her two children, Milan, 9, and Sasha, 7, and a security officer sneaked into the club without anyone noticing.

A journalist by the name of Silvia Taulés observed that Shakira didn’t bat an eye when people yelled at her for skipping them in line, even though she did so.

Which kind of behavior should she model for her children? The reporter went on to say more. This intelligent learning of how to skip ahead of the line teaches them to do so even when it’s not essential.

Taulés also posted photographs to Twitter showing the halftime performer from the Super Bowl at the venue with her children. Page Six has contacted Shakira’s representatives but has yet to receive a response from them.

The Colombian superstar is having a rough year because of her breakup and custody fight with Gerard Piqué, a player for Barcelona FC who she shares two children with. Piqué is 35 years old. The former couple issued a joint statement in June, saying, “We regret to confirm that we are splitting.”

At this time, we respectfully request privacy for the sake of our children, the protection of whom is our highest responsibility. I want to express my gratitude for your consideration and regard. The football player is currently dating Clara Chia Marti, a 23-year-old public affairs student.

Best winter walks in the UK that end at pubs include scenic route with cliffs | Travel News | Travel

As the chill of 2025 sets in, Brits are being tempted to huddle indoors, but Millets, the outdoor clothing and equipment specialists, have a better idea.

They’ve curated a list of England’s top ‘pub walks’ perfect for winter, focusing on routes that are not only family-friendly and accessible for wheelchairs and prams but also end with a rewarding pub visit.

Natalie Byrne, an author and outdoor aficionado at Millets, advises: “As we are firmly in the winter season, many will be wanting to stay warm and cosy indoors. However, a walk is a great way to get all the family together and moving! To allow the whole family to get involved, it is a great idea to choose a route that is accessible to both wheelchairs and prams.”

She further suggests checking the difficulty and estimated time of the walk, especially if you’re accompanied by young children or slower walkers, and recommends allowing extra time for breaks.

Moreover, Byrne emphasises the importance of proper gear, saying: “Packing the correct equipment can make all the difference between a good walk and a difficult walk. I recommend a sturdy pair of walking boots that will support your ankles and be comfortable on longer walks. It is also a good idea to pack some waterproof clothing for the family.”

The Seven Sisters and Friston Forest Circular walk

“This is very important as the temperatures are much colder and the weather can change quickly. Make sure to bring layers and warm accessories, as no one wants to sit post-walk in the pub in wet clothes or feeling cold! “

The Seven Sisters and Friston Forest Circular walk, located near Eastbourne, has been crowned the top family-friendly stroll for this New Year. This 12.7km journey takes walkers past a series of chalk cliffs, alternating between cliffside views and forest trails.

Along the way, there’s a National Trust café for a pit stop, and for those fancying a pub lunch, The Tiger Inn in East Dean, The Selsey Arms in West Dean or The Cuckmere Inn in Exceat are all options. The walk takes approximately three hours and 32 minutes to complete, reports the Mirror.

Another Eastbourne route, Seaford to Eastbourne, clinches second place. Although it’s considered somewhat challenging, good weather rewards walkers with views of brilliant white cliffs, lush green grass and stunning sights of the English Channel.

The trail starts in the centre of Seaford, where there are many pubs, including Old Plough and The Wellington Pub and Bed and Breakfast, and ends in Eastbourne close to The London and County – JD Wetherspoon.

Tiger Inn

The walk, which spans approximately 21.7km, takes around five-and-a-half hours to complete. The third place goes to Mam Tor and The Great Ridge via Elbow Ridge in the Peak District National Park.

This circular trail near Hope, Derbyshire, offers panoramic views from the top of the Peaks and includes stops at Blue John Cavern, Mam Tor, Mam Tor Hill Fort, Hollins Cross, Back Tor and Lose Hill. Nearby, The Castle and Ye Olde Nags Head in Castleton provide the perfect spots for a post-walk snack or New Year’s drink.

The round walk is about 10.5km long and takes roughly three hours and 50 minutes. Next up is the Brockenhurst and the Tall Trees Trail Circular in the New Forest National Park.

Despite being slightly more challenging, it’s a popular route for camping, mountain biking, and hiking. Starting in the village of Brockenhurst, the trail takes you through rural countryside, forests, and even redwoods and firs planted in the late 1850s to create Rhinefield Ornamental Drive for the nearby Rhinefield Arboretum.

The Snake Catcher, a dog-friendly pub in Brockenhurst, offers a wide range of beers, ciders, and ales. The walk, covering about 15.4km, takes around three hours and 36 minutes.

The Buttermere Circular in the Lake District National Park, a favourite among bird enthusiasts, hikers and runners, is on the shorter side. As you traverse its paths, you’re likely to cross paths with other explorers and dogs on leads are welcome.

On a clear day, the landscape offers breathtaking views of the sweeping mountains. The area gained fame in the early 1800s due to the landlord’s attractive daughter, known as the Maid of Buttermere, who was mentioned by numerous Lakeland poets including William Wordsworth in his poem Prelude.

The walk, which is one of the shorter ones on this list, takes approximately one hour and 47 minutes and spans about 7.4km. Other walks with pubs along the route include: a four-hour, 12.2km walk; a three-hour, 11.3km walk; a two-hour and 39-minute, 8km walk; a just under three-hour, 10.6km walk; and a four-hour and 14-minute, 14.6km walk.
