Fly from 2,000 Miles (2026)

HK Express has launched a Full Miles Redemption Mega Sale, letting you book one-way flights from Hong Kong for as few as 2,000 Asia Miles. The sale covers routes across mainland China, Southeast Asia, South Korea, and Japan.

This is a flash sale with a tight booking window – it runs from April 20 to 23, 2026 only – so you’ll need to move quickly if anything catches your eye.

If you recently registered for the Cathay Pacific Anniversary Miles Rewards promotion, the bonus miles you earn from that campaign could be enough to cover one or two of these redemptions outright.

HK Express Full Miles Redemption Mega Sale

HK Express is Cathay Pacific’s low-cost subsidiary, and its flights are redeemable using Asia Miles. This promotion slashes the miles required for one-way flights from Hong Kong to a wide range of destinations.

HK Express is offering deeply discounted Asia Miles redemptions across four route tiers through April 23, 2026.

The Lite fare is the most stripped-down option – a personal item and cabin baggage included, but no seat selection or changes – but if you’re travelling light, it’s hard to argue with a one-way flight to Bangkok for 3,000 Asia Miles or to Tokyo for 7,000.

Tier Destinations Lite Essential Max
1 Beijing (Daxing), Ningbo, Sanya, Yiwu, Changzhou, Wuxi, Manila, Clark, Taipei, Kaohsiung, Taichung 2,000 4,000 6,000
2 Da Nang, Hanoi, Phu Quoc, Kota Kinabalu, Penang, Kuala Lumpur (Subang), Bangkok, Phuket, Chiang Mai 3,000 5,000 7,000
3 Seoul, Jeju, Busan, Daegu 5,000 7,000 9,000
4 Tokyo (Narita & Haneda), Osaka, Fukuoka, Sendai, Komatsu, Ishigaki, Okinawa, Hiroshima, Nagoya, Takamatsu 7,000 10,000 12,000

Keep in mind that the miles cost does not include taxes and surcharges, which are charged separately.

Booking Details

The booking window is short. You have from April 20 to April 23, 2026 (until 11:45pm HKT on the 23rd) to make your booking, with travel dates spanning April 28 to September 22, 2026.

A few important restrictions to keep in mind.

  • Linked accounts required: Your MyUO (HK Express) and Cathay accounts must be linked before booking
  • 30-minute booking window: Once you start a redemption, you need to complete it within 30 minutes
  • Desktop only: Bookings cannot be made through the HK Express mobile app or WeChat mini-app
  • Seat availability: Redemption seats are limited and subject to availability

Is This a Good Deal?

At these mile costs, even modest cash fares can produce decent redemption values.

Take the Hong Kong to Tokyo (Narita) route as an example. A Lite fare on May 13 prices out at 7,000 Asia Miles + HKD 744 in taxes and surcharges.

Even on the Lite fare, a small personal item and cabin baggage are both included at no extra cost in miles.

The same route booked with cash on a nearby date comes to HKD 1,464 all-in.

That means 7,000 Asia Miles are offsetting HKD 720 in fare value (1,464 − 744), which works out to roughly 1.9 cents CAD per mile. That’s above our baseline valuation of Asia Miles at 1.6 cents per point, making this a solid use of miles even on a budget carrier.

Where this sale really shines is for travellers who are already in Hong Kong and want to tack on a cheap side trip. Spending 3,000 Asia Miles for a one-way to Bangkok or 5,000 for Seoul is the kind of low-commitment redemption that’s hard to overthink.

Tie-In with Cathay Pacific Anniversary Miles Rewards

If you registered for the Cathay Pacific Anniversary Miles Rewards promotion running from April 15 to May 31, you could earn up to 4,380 bonus Asia Miles by completing six missions.

That’s enough for two one-way Lite fares to mainland China, the Philippines, or Taiwan (2,000 miles each), or a one-way Lite fare to Southeast Asia (3,000 miles) with miles to spare.

The easiest missions to complete are transferring 10,000 RBC Avion points to Asia Miles (Missions 1 and 3, worth 1,100 bonus miles) and buying an Airalo eSIM through the Asia Miles shopping partners (Mission 2, worth 1,000 bonus miles). That alone nets you 2,100 bonus Asia Miles – enough for a Lite fare to Taipei or Manila.

And if you book one of these HK Express flights using your Asia Miles, that redemption could count toward Mission 5 of the anniversary promotion (redeem 8,000+ Asia Miles), earning you an additional 1,200 bonus miles. You would need to redeem at least 8,000 miles total, so a Korea or Japan tier fare would be the natural fit.

How to Earn Asia Miles in Canada

If your Asia Miles balance is looking thin, there are a couple of ways to top it up from Canada.

The RBC Avion route is by far the most efficient. A transfer of 10,000 Avion points gives you 10,000 Asia Miles – more than enough for a return trip on the cheapest HK Express routes.

Conclusion

If you’re planning to be in Hong Kong this summer, or you’re building an itinerary around a Cathay Pacific flight, these HK Express fares are a ridiculously cheap way to add a side trip. A one-way to Bangkok for 3,000 miles or Tokyo for 7,000 miles is hard to beat on any award chart.

The booking window closes April 23, so don’t sit on it. Link your Cathay and MyUO accounts now, and have your Asia Miles balance ready to go.
