Warning: The following contains spoilers for Black Clover up to the ending. Also, it only includes characters who are alive at the end of the story. After 11 years of its incredible run, Yuki Tabata’s Black Clover has finally brought its magical journey to a close. What began as a standard underdog story about a magicless orphan with a giant sword quickly grew into a long adventure filled with powerful devils, holy Paladins, and world-ending threats.
Along the way, the series consistently delivered some of the most exciting and well-choreographed battles in modern manga. The stakes only kept getting higher as the story reached its end. To survive the final war against Lucius Zogratis, every single character had to push past their absolute limits. With the manga officially over and the mages at their absolute best, the final power rankings are officially locked in.
10
Magna Swing
Magna Swing completely broke the power scale of the entire series. In a world where royal blood and massive mana reserves usually decide who is the strongest, Magna proved everyone wrong. His Soul Chain Deathmatch spell serves as the ultimate equalizer. By striking an opponent with a fiery chain, the Black Bull mage forces both of their magic pools to split perfectly down the middle.
Magna first used this trick against Dante Zogratis, an enemy who seemed completely invincible. The spell successfully dragged the powerful devil host right down to the level of a common peasant. Following that magic drain, Magna beat him in a brutal, bare-knuckle street fight. While the flame mage may lack the big, flashy spells of a royal captain, his ability to force a perfectly fair fight makes him a legitimate threat to absolutely anyone.
9
Jack the Ripper
Jack the Ripper’s Severing Magic makes him one of the most lethal captains in the Clover Kingdom. His magical blades naturally adapt to whatever he happens to be fighting. As long as a battle lasts long enough, he will eventually figure out how to cut through absolutely any defense or magic spell. Jack proved his true strength during his clash against Paladin Morgen in the final war.
Despite taking a deadly hit right at the start of the fight, he refused to give up. He poured all of his remaining energy into one final, massive slash. It is a well-known fact that had Morgen blocked the attack instead of dodging, he would have been killed instantly. Not to mention, Jack also successfully held his own against Dante during the invasion of the Spade Kingdom.
8
Ichika Yami
Ichika Yami proves that raw strength definitely runs in her family. By combining her dark magic with Zetten’s skills, she is absolutely deadly in close-range combat. Her greatest moment in the final arc was the big three-on-one fight against Paladin Morgen. Fighting right beside her brother, Yami and Nacht, Ichika proved she can easily keep up with the strongest villains in the series.
Since Paladin Morgen was quick and dangerous from a distance, the team had to play it smart. Their plan focused on surviving his long-range magic to force him into a close-up fight. Ichika’s flawless sword skills and her powerful Black Star attack kept the group alive when things got rough. Her speed and timing clearly match the very best fighters from the Clover Kingdom.
7
Yosuga Mushogatake
As the strongest fighter in the Ryuzen Seven, Yosuga Mushogatake serves as the primary powerhouse for the Land of the Sun. He utilizes Iron Magic to construct a defense that is nearly impossible to shatter. Nevertheless, his flawless control over the Zetten technique is what truly makes him a monster on the battlefield. The Ryuzen Seven member effortlessly coats his massive iron weapons and his body in thick magic, which allows him to slice through enemies like paper.
During the invasion in the Land of the Sun, Yosuga easily defeated Paladin Heath while in his God of War form. Despite having a very laid-back personality, his raw physical strength remains unmatched. Yosuga proves why elite fighters outside the Clover Kingdom are not to be taken lightly.
6
Noelle Silva
Noelle Silva’s transformation from a mage unable to control her magic into an elite fighter is a truly amazing journey. Forging a pact with the Sea God Leviathan successfully unlocked her powerful Dragon Valkyrie Dress. However, the water mage’s battle against her resurrected mother, Paladin Acier, is what truly proved her strength.
Acier utilizes blazing speed in close-quarters combat, creating a nightmare scenario for any opponent. Even Mereoleona failed to defeat her when she was alive. Despite this, Noelle defeated her mother, a Lucius clone, and several angels in the final arc.
Historically, Noelle unknowingly held back just to keep her overwhelming magic under control. Because of this limitation, she initially needed her siblings to help hold Acier down and aim her final attack. Once the Black Bull member finally let go and unleashed her full power, she easily defeated her mother. By the time she confronted Lucius, Noelle had completely mastered this massive power, finally removing her greatest weakness.
5
Nacht Faust
Nacht Faust is the perfect example of why strategy and matchups matter so much in Black Clover. While his Shadow Magic makes him incredibly tricky to deal with, his true strength actually comes from having four different devil contracts. This unique setup lets him adapt to almost any situation on the fly.
During the final arc, Nacht played a crucial role in defeating his twin brother, Paladin Morgen. Even though Morgen completely outmatched his opponents in pure speed, the new captain of the Black Bulls successfully executed a sneak attack by utilizing Asta’s Anti-Magic.
When Morgen powered up even further later in the battle, Nacht teamed up with Yami and Ichika to engage him in a three-on-one fight. While he might lack the raw destructive power of a mage like Mereoleona, Nacht’s ability to perfectly control the battlefield and outsmart his enemies makes him one of the most dangerous opponents in the series.
4
Mereoleona Vermillion
If one character in Black Clover defines pure strength, it’s definitely Mereoleona Vermillion. The fierce fire mage never relies on complicated tricks or special magic hacks in a fight. Instead, she simply punches her enemies until they turn to ash. During the final battles, Mereoleona pushed her Hellfire Incarnate spell to the absolute limit, transforming her physical body into pure, blazing magic.
However, readers often forget she isn’t invincible. Mereoleona needed the Crimson Lions to buy her enough time to reach her full power. Although her mana form essentially turns her body into blazing mana, it burns her own life away. Despite the massive risk, Mereoleona took out Paladin Morris while also holding her own against her toughest challenger, Acier. If Mereoleona ever learns to use this mana form without hurting her own body, she could easily surpass Yami.
3
Sukehiro Yami
Yami Sukehiro is known for pushing past his limits, but his power in Black Clover‘s final arc reached a completely new level. As the former captain of the Black Bulls, Yami’s mastery of dark magic and Ki already made him a highly skilled mage. But the real turning point in his overall strength came when the powerful devil Adrammelech presented him with an unexpected offer, which Yami gladly accepted.
Making a pact with the devil provided the former Black Bulls captain with a massive boost in mana, granting him the ability to wield light magic. By being able to wield both light and dark magic simultaneously, Yami turned into an unstoppable force. With this new overwhelming power, he managed to defeat Paladin Morgen Faust alongside Nacht.
Yami is no longer just a great arcane-level mage. This dark union firmly cements him as one of the absolute strongest fighters in the entire series.
2
Yuno Grinberryall
When it comes to being blessed by mana, no character comes close to Yuno Grinberryall. The captain of the Golden Dawn managed to pull off some of the most impressive combat feats in the entire story.
During the final war, the mage managed to defeat Lucius Zogratis’ clone all by himself, while actively maintaining his Never-Neverland spell, which continuously boosted the strength of his allies and blocked enemy time magic across the battlefield.
10 Major Manga Series Expected to End in 2026
2026 marks the end of an era and a shift in the manga landscape, with many long-running series bidding their final farewell in the coming months.
Yuno stands out as the only character in Black Clover to wield two separate grimoires. Serving as the vessel for Licht’s unborn child gave him his four-leaf clover for Wind Magic, while his Spade Kingdom royal bloodline awakened his Star Magic. With his royal bloodline and dual magical attributes, Yuno was built to be the strongest. Yet, despite being a perfect prodigy, he happened to share an era with an unstoppable, magicless rival who went on to beat him to their shared dream.
1
Asta
By finally becoming the 29th Wizard King, Asta proved beyond a doubt that he is the strongest character in the series. However, his feats are not the only thing that earns him the top spot. Instead, his unbreakable willpower to never give up is what truly sets him apart. Even after Vetto cursed his arms with an injury that should have ruined his future, Asta never once stopped thinking about chasing his dream.
In a world where magic means absolutely everything, his unique Anti-Magic acts as the perfect counter to any opponent. Furthermore, he pushed his limits even further by mastering the Zetten technique during his training in the Land of the Sun. By Black Clover‘s final chapter, Asta no longer had to rely solely on his swords. By simply coating his bare fists in anti-magic, he could effortlessly punch right through any magic spell.
