Aespa Gives K-Pop a Taste of ‘LEMONADE’ Ahead of Their Inkigayo Appearance

Aespa kicked off the promotional rollout for ‘LEMONADE’ on Instagram today. The teaser from the K-pop quartet was short and direct: “I ain’t got no ETA-TA-TA.”

The phrase is a spin on “no ETA.” It’s a wink at the fact that no release date has been shared. It’s also written in a way that sounds like a lyric already. The wordplay does two things at once.

The post included three hashtags alongside the group name: #LEMONADE, #aespaLEMONADE, and #인기가요. That third hashtag is the most meaningful part. #인기가요 is the Korean title for Inkigayo, one of South Korea’s biggest weekly music programs. It airs on SBS every Sunday. Groups tag it to signal they’re preparing a live performance slot on the show.

In K-pop, that tag carries real weight. Performance slots on Inkigayo require advance coordination with the broadcast schedule. Seeing it appear in a teaser post means a confirmed performance date is already on the books. A release is almost certainly tied to that.

Inkigayo also runs its own chart. It tracks weekly performance alongside streaming and sales numbers. A strong debut week on the show matters. Artists typically align their release dates with a Sunday stage. A music video usually drops around the same point.

Aespa debuted under SM Entertainment in November 2020. The group is made up of four members: Karina, Giselle, Winter, and Ningning. Their debut concept centered on a fictional digital universe, with AI counterparts for each member woven into the group’s lore. It was an unusual premise for a new act. It stuck. The group built a global following quickly.

Their fan base goes by MYs. The community is known for following rollouts closely. A teaser this early in the cycle gives them a lot to work with.

‘LEMONADE’ as a title has a different feel from some of aespa’s more concept-heavy releases. It’s light and direct. The “ETA-TA-TA” framing suggests a playful energy. A single teaser phrase can only tell you so much.

No format details have been shared yet. Whether ‘LEMONADE’ is a standalone single or the lead track from a larger project hasn’t been made clear. The Inkigayo tag points to a full announcement coming soon. A comeback cycle that’s already in motion doesn’t stay quiet for long.

The wait has started. The release itself shouldn’t be far behind.
