A minute of silence for Bondi Beach shooting victims

Australia is observing a national Day of Reflection one week after the deadly shooting at a Jewish festival on Bondi Beach, with crowds gathering at a waterfront memorial and people across the country lighting candles and holding a minute of silence at exactly 6:47 p.m. local time, the moment the first shots were fired; the attack left 15 people dead and dozens injured, including 13 who remain hospitalized, and was carried out by a father and son, the latter previously flagged for possible radicalization, prompting the prime minister on Sunday to order a review of Australia’s security and intelligence services. Caroline Baum reports.
