DC‘s next on-screen depiction of Superboy is 14 days away from its debut, which is an exciting prospect for more than one reason. While focus often remains on Superman and Supergirl when it comes to DC’s Kryptonian heroes, the history of the Superboy mantle is one of the franchise’s most interesting, partially because it’s effectively served as Superman’s equivalent to Robin over the years.
Much in the same vein, many very different characters have held the Superboy title, be that Kal-El clone Conner Kent and his complex relationship with the rest of his extended family, Superman’s son Jonathan Kent who has spent his life growing up learning how to navigate being the offspring of one of DC’s biggest heroes, or the alternate universe reality-breaking Superboy-Prime, who has served as hero and villain alike throughout the course of his respective comic history.
With all this in mind, it’s always exciting to learn a new rendition of Superboy is on the horizon, particularly because the range of different Superboy stories we’ve gotten over the years means the character can be taken in so many different directions even while following DC’s comic lore – and because this may also bode well for the DC Universe timeline due to its timing.
My Adventures With Superman Season 3 Is Set To Introduce Superboy
My Adventures With Superman hasn’t been afraid to delve into the wider lore of its titular hero, which has included featuring an assortment of characters associated with Superman who often don’t get as much time on-screen – such as Mister Mxyzptlk, Parasite, or Atomic Skull. That said, My Adventures With Superman has included a range of Kryptonians in its story already, meaning it’s no huge surprise Superboy is on the way.
Superboy’s arrival in My Adventures With Superman season 3 has been confirmed by a range of promotional materials for the next season of the show, including the trailer for My Adventures With Superman season 3, which notably shows a bewildered-looking Clark Kent interacting with an in-costume Superboy.
Given My Adventures With Superman season 2 explored Superman bonding with Supergirl, and season 3 appears to see him face off against Cyborg Superman prominently in its story, there’s arguably never been a better time for Superboy to appear in the show’s narrative – especially since this comes at a time where the series can help prime audiences for the prospect of Superboy’s appearance in the DCU.
My Adventures With Superman Season 3’s Superboy Story Could Help The DCU
With the DC Universe focusing on a wider cinematic world that delves into sides of the comic lore that generally haven’t seen as much adaptation on the big screen, seeing the likes of some of DC’s versions of Robin or Superboy do seem to be borderline inevitable situations, especially given the prior reports that Batman solo movie The Brave & The Bold will feature Bruce’s son Damian Wayne.
As such, any DC release that delves into the various ways Superboy can be introduced into stories is sure to help prime audiences for the prospective eventuality, and show viewers the array of unique story angles the character can be used in, as well as the immense impact they can have when utilized well.
Indeed, we already saw this not that long ago thanks to Superman & Lois, which delved into its own distinctive take on the Superboy mythos by giving the mantle to both of Clark and Lois’ sons by the time of the show’s final season. Hopefully, My Adventures With Superman will be able to follow suit, and provide a stellar new look at Superboy that tees DC‘s wider world up for things like a DCU debut of the character at the same time.
