The photo carousel shows the singer bumping olives with someone. The unseen protagonist seems to be former love, Alvarez.
She captioned the July 27 Instagram, “petal season continued …….. !” Since her reported split from Wicked costar Ethan Slater, Grande’s relationship with her ex-boyfriend is under close scrutiny.
Fans have closely tracked Grande’s performance of her anthem “thank u next,” which assimilates her love life. Grande has been subtly changing lyrics about Alvarez, suggesting new developments in the relationship. The line that typically goes, “Wrote some songs about Ricky / Now I listen and laugh,” has been changed several times.
Grande sang the latter half of the phrase as, “And they still really slap.” in her June 24 Texas tour. Following up, she further changed the lyrics to “I know he still got my back,” at her birthday show at Austin on June 26. During her Brooklyn Tour, she sang, “We always find our way back.”
Fans have been hanging on her every word to unearth clues about her relationship status. Alvarez is currently a very visible part of Grande’s life. The ex-boyfriend has been seen supporting her at events and shows. Additionally, he also hung out with Grande’s parents in the crowd.
