20,000 Points off Hotels, Cars, and Gift Cards for Aeroplan Elite Members

Just days after Redemption Days wrapped up, Aeroplan is back with another round of discounted redemptions. This time, the offers are exclusive to Aeroplan Elite Status members, and the discount is deeper.

From August 4 to 10, 2026, Elite members can take 20,000 points off redemptions of 70,000 points or more across three categories. Hotel stays and car rentals, Aeroplan eStore purchases, and Air Canada Vacations packages each get their own offer.

This promotion is only for members in good standing who received the targeted email. Look for an email titled “20,000 reasons to use your points,” since you’ll need the promo code from your email for each offer.

How the Elite Exclusive Offers Work

All three offers share the same basic shape. Redeem at least 70,000 points, apply the code from your email at checkout, and save 20,000 points.

Hotel and car rental bookings go through Aeroplan’s member-exclusive travel portal, which includes more than 9,000 HotelSavers partner properties. The booking window runs from 12:01am NT on August 4 until 11:59pm PT on August 10, 2026.

You can use the travel code as many times as you like during the offer period, though only one code applies per booking. Your account needs enough points to cover the full pre-discount total, and the reduction is applied automatically at checkout once the code is entered.

Bookings are subject to availability, and some rates are excluded. Keep in mind that only the booking needs to happen during the promotional window, so your stay or travel dates can be much later.

The eStore offer includes gift cards from Air Canada, Apple, Amazon, and Best Buy. More than 2,000 products are eligible too, including merchandise from brands such as Bose, Samsung, Cuisinart, and Dyson. Unlike the travel code, this one is valid for a single use, runs on Eastern Time, and can’t be applied to Cash + Points orders.

Air Canada Vacations works differently. You’ll redeem the full amount upfront and get 20,000 points back once travel is completed, measured against the total price including taxes, fees, and surcharges. Cancelled or refunded bookings receive nothing.

A few fine-print details are worth flagging. None of the codes can be combined with another promotion, including those selected through Milestone Benefits. If you cancel a booking made with the travel code, you can only reuse it by rebooking before August 10, and once the window closes, the discount is gone for good.

Is This a Good Deal?

At the minimum threshold, the math is strong. A hotel stay pricing at exactly 70,000 points costs you 50,000 after the discount, a reduction of just over 28%.

Compare that to last week’s public Redemption Days promotion, which worked out to 20% off hotels and 30% off car rentals at its 50,000-point floor. Elite members are getting a better hotel rate this time, with car rentals landing in the same range.

As with any flat discount, the value shrinks as your redemption grows. A 100,000-point booking sees a 20% reduction, while a 140,000-point booking drops to about 14%.

Since the travel code has no usage limit, longer trips are better split into separate bookings that each clear the minimum. Two 70,000-point bookings save 40,000 points in total, while a single 140,000-point booking saves only 20,000.

I put HotelSavers pricing under the microscope in my recent deep dive, and the takeaway still holds. Hotel redemptions won’t beat a well-chosen business class flight on value, but a discount this size narrows the gap considerably.

We typically don’t recommend redeeming points towards gift card purchases, but this promotion can make sense for some people. Currently the Air Canada $750 eGift Card is priced at 71,250 points after being marked down from 75,000.

With the code applied, the total dropped to 51,250 points. That works out to just over 1.46 cents per point on a card you can put toward any Air Canada fare, up from a mediocre 1.05 cents without the discount.

For an Elite member, 1.46 cents per point becomes a useful benchmark. If a flight redemption you’re considering falls below that value, buying the gift card and using it to pay for the ticket may be the better move.

A cash fare paid with a gift card still earns Aeroplan points and Status Qualifying Credits toward next year’s status, which award tickets never do. Just steer clear of Basic fares, since they earn no SQC at all.

The trade-off is insurance. A fare paid with a gift card isn’t charged to your credit card, so the trip protections that come with most premium travel cards generally won’t apply to that ticket.

Vacation packages land somewhere in between. The rebate applies to the full package price including taxes and fees, which helps, but you’ll wait until after your trip to see the points again.

Stacking with Fourth Night Free

The hotel offer gets more interesting if you hold an eligible Aeroplan co-branded credit card, which unlocks Aeroplan’s Fourth Night Free benefit on portal bookings. To see whether the two play nicely together, I priced out a four-night stay at the Moxy Bangkok Ratchaprasong in October.

The stay came to 97,800 points, and the free night knocked off 24,450 of them, bringing the trip total to 73,350 points. Since that figure still cleared the 70,000-point minimum, my code took off another 20,000, leaving 53,350 points due.

All in, that’s 44,450 points off a 97,800-point stay, a saving of about 45%. The free night is applied first and the minimum is measured against what remains, so make sure your post-free-night total still clears 70,000 points on the Trip cart page.

Who Should Take Advantage?

My honest take is that this promotion works best for Elite members who already planned to redeem for hotels, cars, or a qualifying gift card. Keeping each travel booking close to 70,000 points helps preserve the strongest percentage reduction.

The hotel side is also worth considering if you’re visiting somewhere that lacks Marriott, Hilton, or Hyatt options. With more than 9,000 HotelSavers properties on the portal, you’ll often find a well-located independent hotel where the big chains have no footprint.

The Air Canada gift card can be useful too, though there’s a limit to the play. Your code only works once and the value maxes out with the $750 card, so it’s best suited to covering a single fare rather than a whole trip.

On the other hand, if your points are earmarked for premium cabin flights, I’d leave them alone. Even at a 28% discount, hotel and merchandise redemptions rarely match the value of Aeroplan’s best flight redemptions.

Conclusion

Aeroplan has now run three discounted redemption promotions since June, and the pattern is hard to miss. The program wants members spending points on hotels, cars, and merchandise, where costs are pinned to cash prices.

My guess is more of these are coming, but the elite-only framing and the deeper discount make this round the strongest so far. If a qualifying redemption was on your radar anyway, you have until August 10 to make it happen.
