Starting today, you can redeem Aeroplan points for seats on scheduled Harbour Air flights, the seaplane service linking Vancouver, Victoria, Nanaimo and other coastal communities in British Columbia and the Pacific Northwest.
Since December 2025, members have earned Aeroplan points on paid Harbour Air fares. Now the points flow both ways, giving you a scenic new way to use them along B.C.’s coast.
You Can Now Redeem Aeroplan Points for Harbour Air Flights
Harbour Air, which bills itself as North America’s largest seaplane airline, has hubs in Vancouver and Victoria and over 40 years of operations. It runs up to 200 scheduled flights daily across a network of 13 destinations, including downtown waterfronts and island communities.
Harbour Air is the first regional air transportation provider in B.C. to offer Aeroplan point redemptions. In case you’re not familiar, its network includes the following destinations (note that some are seasonal):
- Vancouver: Vancouver Harbour and Vancouver Airport South Terminal
- Vancouver Island: Victoria, Nanaimo, Comox, Campbell River, Tofino, and Ucluelet
- Other coastal communities: Powell River, Salt Spring (Ganges Harbour), Sechelt
- Other destinations: Seattle and Whistler
Harbour Air joins as a Select Partner, which means that prices may fluctuate depending on the route. In Air Canada’s press release, redemptions were noted to start at 9,000 points.
Indeed, that’s what we see on the Air Canada website.
For example, a flight from downtown Vancouver to downtown Victoria can be purchased for 9,000 Aeroplan points + $39 taxes and fees. The $39 really only accounts for the partner booking fee, which suggests there aren’t any other fees tacked on to these.
To find Harbour Air flights, you’ll notice that most seaplane bases are loaded into the search. When you enter Vancouver, for example, you’ll see both Vancouver International Airport, as well as Vancouver Harbour Water Aerodrome.

Rather than selecting one or the other, you can click on the city name, and it will show flights available from or to both airports. For example, searching for Vancouver (All airports) to Victoria (All airports) will show both Air Canada flights from YVR to YYJ, as well as Harbour Air flights from downtown to downtown.

Key things to know
There are a few items worth understanding before you start searching. Most of them are about how and where you can book.
- Booking channels: Harbour Air rewards must be booked through aircanada.com or the Air Canada app
- Baggage: Aeroplan redemptions include 25 lbs. of baggage (additional baggage allowance may be purchased upon check-in)
- Eligible flights: Only scheduled Harbour Air flights qualify. Scenic tours and charter services aren’t eligible.
- No mixing airlines (yet): You can’t combine a Harbour Air reward flight with flights operated by other airlines on the same reward itinerary.
Put another way, a Harbour Air reward stands on its own. If you’re connecting from an Air Canada flight into Vancouver, you’ll need to book the seaplane leg as a separate reward, at least for now.

Seats are also subject to availability and Aeroplan’s flight reward booking terms. Harbour Air Club members continue to earn Aeroplan points on eligible paid flights and keep their Harbour Air Club tier benefits.
If you need to top up your balance, American Express Membership Rewards points transfer to Aeroplan at 1:1. The TD, CIBC, and American Express Aeroplan co-branded cards earn Aeroplan points directly.
Harbour Air Offers a Fantastic End-to-End Experience
I’m based in Comox, and flying Harbour Air’s seasonal service is without a doubt my preferred way to get between home and downtown Vancouver.
If you’re headed to downtown Vancouver, the biggest advantage is where you land. Harbour Air’s Vancouver seaplane terminal sits on the downtown waterfront, within walking distance of so many great parts of the city.

Compare that with flying into YVR, where you’ll still need to take the Canada Line, a taxi, or a rideshare into town. On a short trip, the time you save on the ground adds up quickly, and it’s nice to be able to waltz into a restaurant before heading to a show right after walking off the plane.
Then there’s the flight itself, which is simply breathtaking. Cruising low over the Salish Sea, with the Gulf Islands and the Coast Mountains in view, is about as scenic as a short-haul flight gets in Canada.

If your flight departs from Vancouver Airport’s South Seaplane Terminal, you’ll also have the pleasure of popping into the Flying Beaver for a bite to eat and a beverage. It’s one of my favourite spots in the city to watch planes take off and land.
In other words, Harbour Air is less about getting from Point A to Point B and more of a full experience. Being able to book it with Aeroplan points makes it more accessible than ever.
But what about value?
In terms of value, what’s notable here is that Aeroplan redemptions come with 25 lbs. of baggage. Harbour Air offers affordable Light fares on all of its routes; however, they only come with 10 lbs. of baggage (including carry-on), and you need to pay $3 per pound above and beyond that.
Using the same example from above, a one-way flight from downtown Vancouver to downtown Victoria costs 9,000 Aeroplan points plus $39 in taxes and fees.
The same flight booked through Harbour Air costs $99–$277.

Crunching the numbers, comparing the Aeroplan redemption to a Comfort fare works out to roughly 2.2 cents per point, while comparing it to a Light fare works out to roughly 0.66 cents per point. The latter doesn’t account for the extra 15 lbs. of baggage allowance.
Plus, flight prices change from flight-to-flight, so it’s impossible to say whether or not it’s a great deal every single time.
In my opinion, it’s worth checking both the cash Harbour Air fares and the Aeroplan redemption rates before you book. If you’re flying with a light backpack, then a Light fare paid with cash could be the play, whereas if you have a bit of luggage, then an Aeroplan redemption can be a great way to get solid value from your points.
Either way, what’s most interesting is that you can redeem Aeroplan points for seaplane flights now. It’s a great partnership, and one that I’ll be taking advantage of on both the earning and redeeming end.
Conclusion
Aeroplan members can now redeem points on eligible scheduled Harbour Air flights. This is a great new redemption partner available to Aeroplan members, and one that I’m particularly excited about.
Book through aircanada.com or the Air Canada app, and keep in mind that seaplane rewards can’t be combined with other airlines on the same itinerary (for now).
It’s great to see another redemption partner added to Aeroplan’s roster, especially one that adds to the excellent coverage of Canadian regional carriers.
