That’s going to leave a scar.
Top Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Strawweight contender Tatiana Suarez suffered the biggest loss of her Octagon career at UFC 312 this past weekend (Sat., Feb. 8, 2025), losing a unanimous decision to Weili Zhang for the UFC Strawweight strap inside Qudos Bank Arena in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia.
After exiting a local Australian hospital to which she was transported after the fight and spending the weekend with friends and family, analyzing what went wrong, Suarez put out a statement today on social media (read it here).
The 34-year-old also shared a photo of her knee, in which she suffered a gnarly cut during the fight.
Check it out below:
The former undefeated fighter sustained the cut in a freak accident during the second round when she shot in for a takedown against Zhang but, in the process, hit the bottom of the cage fence, which caused the gash (watch here).
Suarez has yet to mention the cut she endured or whether it affected her performance in any way.
Nevertheless, the loss at UFC 312 snapped Suarez’s 10-fight win streak and most likely set her back from a title shot for a few fights (even though she only moved down one spot in the Top 15 rankings).
